I was at a local game store and they were playing FOW with regular 15mm scale figures. Can this be played with Micro Armor and 6mm figs? I have a limited hobby budget so I cannot just drop $300-600 for a playable 1500 point army in 15mm so I wanted to see if anyone has any experience with Micro FOW. Do the rules allow for downsizing movement range, tank and artillery range? If I wanted to get a set of the rules to peruse and see what the game mechanics are like should I get the soft cover or the hard cover set? TIA!

FoW in 6mm - they don't change any of the distances or anything, but the smaller size allows you to fit more onto the table. And, of course, it's cheaper!

Flames of War isn't "to scale". It simplifies things tremendously by using what Battlefront refers to as a "sliding scale". i.e. a turn can be 20 minutes or it can be 2 hours. But either way, it's "just long enough" for something to happen. Similarly, distances are "just far enough", etc... So there's no need to change the distances if you're playing with 6mm figures.

On the other hand, you can definitely play out larger battles with infantry if you adjust the measurements for everything. Just halve it.

It'll still take the same time, but you'll be effectively doubling the table size you're playing on, which can make things that would normally not be as useful pretty useful (like transports).

about seven years ago I was playing FOW in 6mm. I was able to play 6000 pts. Just change the scale reading of the tables. The conversion factor between 6mm and 15mm miniatures miniatures is 2.5. the conversion factor between the inch and cm is 2.54 . If you read the tables on the measures in centimeters instead of inches, you can play without any changes.
deploy a whole company of Panzer is very funny! ;-)
