So i have been on a total 40k binge as i got to school far away form DnD buddies and as an author of a 17 chapter dnD camp i have discovered that 40k camps are waaayyyyyy easier to write and waayyy shorter. but i say this really as i have only written one small series of 5 battle taking place on an assault on a hive city... so my question is this, does the grander scale of a 40k camp top out as you cant take if from a small team of dudes to a continent wide war... would the relative be something like a small kill team into a galactic battle?

Chimeras > rhinos (course then again piling a regular squad out of a chimera usually creates a scene similar to Omaha beach during D-Day)

What you're talking about sounds like a sort of escalation league. You could start out with a few kill team games, move on to 40k in 40 minutes type games, then up to 750, 1000, 1500, and so on. Eventually you can top it all off with a huge Apocalypse battle with titans, aircraft, and all sorts of other stuff.

The only problem with an escalating 40k campaign as opposed to a D&D one is that you don't always need minis for roleplaying games. If you want to have a titan in 40k though, you've got to build your own or pony up for Forgeworld.

Definately sounds like an escalation league.

Last one that I participated in had a unique, planet-wide rule that was akin to Tremors.

The Wurm Warrens: Before any infantry unit fires a Heavy Weapon roll a D6. On a Two-six nothing happens and the unit fires as normal. On the roll of a one, the vibrations from firing the Heavy Weapon coaxes Salvations native Wurms tunnel below the unit and devours D3 units and may not fire this turn. Only infantry models in buildings are unaffected by this rule.

The Apocalypse battle was ridiculous. Everything was getting eating by those stupid wyrms.

Ok, I know a am known to bleat on about it, but Epic might be a decent alterative to Apocalypse, if only because you can get the rules free, and then field 4 titans each for not much cash if you wanted to (on top of a regular army). BFG also fits into campaigns well...
