As the title says, who is the best HQ in 40k, there are no limit on point costs so go ahead on slap on every upgrade they can have that the rules state they can have
Also the new Necron HQ's are not included as i dont think the Codex is out yet, so we would be yelling all day over them.
i would post an opinion, but i reallly dont know.....so ill guess my favorite failure: Abbadon the Despoiler
i mean a S8, T5, I6, WS7 i think as i left my Codex at a friends house, 2+ 4++ powerhouse can murder all with his possable 10 S8 daemon weapon attacks in my opinion.

The use of a Chaos Dreadnought depends on three things:
1) How often do people piss you off?
2) Do you have any spare socks?
3) How hard can you swing said sock if it contained the aforementioned dreadnought?
Most common answers:
1) Very
2) Yes
3) Very

Best HQ in terms of what?
Smashing face? Smashing the face of what? Hordes? other HQs?
Leading and supporting the army?
Raw stats? What? Once I know, Ill start thinking about it.

Well, my favorite HQ unit is the Archon. It has its nie piece of versatility and it's a nice CC monster. It also looks GREAT on the tabletop. Now, on named characters there's a lot of mixed opinions, so I'm not going to mention any.

I don't think much comes close to Farseer+Seer Council.
Technically they're one HQ choice...

i would say in Smashing face of anything in general, as thats what i would like in a HQ, but you can state any other HQ as long as you state what they are Awesome in. like Abbadon in Smashing face

In that case, Ork Warboss with PK is my personal favourite. Cheap, reliable, krumps 'eads. But I also favour the Dark Eldar Archon. Such a badass combat beast wrapped up in a tiny skinny pansy package.

Pffft. Commander Farsight and his seven plasma gun + missile pod + gun drones would stomp Mephiston like an angry Black Templar stomps on witches.
Commander Farsight and his bodyguard would wreck all of you.

i found interesting HQ while looking at GW's website, its a Dark Eldar HQ called Lelith Hesperax
she seems very good with her WS9 and BS9, and the fact she will almost always attack first with her I9. but S3 and olny 4 attacks seem terrible for her. right?

Does Adaddon have to declare what weapon he is using? Meaning he either gets the 4 s8 attacks or the 4+d6 str4 attacks?

i think he has to use the d6+4 attacks of his Daemon weapon, just in case lets wait untill a very experienced player joins this discusion. perferably one that knows Abbadons rules actually and can rule-lawyer to defend their opinion.
that kind of person would be reccomended, as this is actually a great question.

Lelith gets a bonus number of attacks equal to the difference between her WS and the highest WS of any opponent she's in base-to-base contact with. So, against WS5, she'd have 9 attacks total: WS4 + 1 for having two CCW + 4 bonus attacks = 9.
Add to that the fact that her ersatz shardnet & impaler ignore armour saves and the fact that she has 3++ in combat, and she sounds like quite a beast.
EDIT: Also, the rules don't mention anything about her attacks capping at 10. In that case, the highest you could get without attack-boosting wargear/special rules from other characters would be 14 (versus WS1, charging into combat). But then you'd hardly need Lelith to take out a squad with WS1.
EDIT-EDIT: I used the wrong stat for figuring out her attacks. Fixed it now. D'oh.

why dont i see DE army lists useing this beast, i mean she sounds like she can basicly kill anything that irritates her......is it because she has difficulty killing stuff with a AV?

In general, IMO it's better to take an HQ that benefits your army as a whole, like Ghazghkuull, rather than just a really strong beatstick, like Lelith.

Swarmlord is better as a general support HQ. Two psychic powers a turn, 18" synapse range, can hand out furious charge or preferred enemy to one unit a turn, +1 to reserve rolls, and he's an absolute monster in assault. Give him some lashwhip Tyrant Guard and not much will survive combat with him. his main downside is price (nearly 500 points with those Tyrant Guard) and slow as buggery.

I see your CCS and trow Kharn The Betrayer + 9 Chaos Terminators with lighting claws and Mark of Khorne on it. Or Abadon with 10 man bodyguard of said unit

Ghaz on the Waaaagh is pretty damn unstoppable.
And, as mentioned, the full Farsight unit with him plus seven XV8s with Plasma Rifle and Fusion Blaster and either 14x Gun Drones or Shield Drones (or a mix) is nuts.
7x S8 AP1, 16x S6 AP2, 14x T/L S5 shots, plus 4x S5 monsterous creature hits, 21x S5 hit and 28x S3 hits... from 32 wounds. Ouch!

Where are these monstrous creature hits coming from? Farsight has just a normal power weapon.
I'm going to throw out Vulkan. First of all, he is no slouch in CC. 2+/3++, str6 power weapon, I5, and a reroll on to hit and to wound (though that is A reroll, as in one). And he is packing a heavy flamer, so he throws out a template then charges. Plus he adds so much to your army.

Yes but he gets 2D6 for AP. Previous Codex counted him as MC for assault hits, current version retains the effect but under the rules of the Dawn Blade.
