Better than a stooge battle report contriving a win for the new dudes.

Although rumour has it that the original game was against BA but they made up and went down the pub together as boozing buddies half way through

(Kanners is gonna kill me for that!)

Agreed. Seems to be a case of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' for GW with some fans.
I'd rather this than a clearly fixed win and that it's the Ultramarines doesn't matter IMHO.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. You mean the Necrons lost the WD Battle Report? Surprising, the newer army losing in Battle Reports almost never happens.

Sign of integrity by GW if anything.

Nids lost or tied theirs too!

I like it when the army of the month loses in WD. Makes it seem less like an obviously staged game. I can pretty much guarantee that at the end it says "Doesn't get much closer than that!" or something similar though.

The game was utterly rigged and staged. All units were parading around in nice little formations. BUT if you give a damn about what a battle report says, I have some wrestling for you to watch.

Well, why is this surprising? The necrons, realizing they will never become Ultramarines themselves, began to commit suicide by "Accidentally" missing, and throwing their faces onto the gunbarrels. Spiritual Liege - The only thing the BA and SW books can not +1.

On a more serious note, after reading through the new codex, I don't recall finding many things that were actually scary to my GKs or Ultras. Perhaps when things hit the board my opinion will change, but all the hubbub about the Tesla, scarabs, necron shields, none of them seem particularly over the top. Even the c`tan is less terrifying now since T8 is no more.

I am interested in seeing how they hold up to "Reel wurld" stuff.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

It's a fething paintjob. If this was something like Silver Skulls or Imperial Fists, people wouldn't be complaining.

Seriously, why do the Boys in Blue get so much hate? I like the paintjob and the theme. The fluff is ehh... But it's nothing to go kill Ultra Players over.

Of course they are paraded around in nice formations, they are meant to be photographed. Your break out your most impressive scenery, best painted units, and make the game look cool. They want it to look impressive.

That doesn't mean the match was staged, just that they were instructed to keep things pretty during the game. I've seen people do this at FLGS demo games too.

It was basically the Eldar who won the match anyway. They held all the objectives at the end, and that Exarch who whooped the asses of those Warriors at the end won it for the Eldar/Space Marines.

Impossible that a new OP codex loses against the weakest Marine codex. If that's a genuine report, then the Necrons do suck awfully.

I've heard about the good old days when army of the month used to lose in WD, and they've give a precis of that fight, say they lost, and replayed the game and give the battle report for the battle army of the month won.

I don't mind army of the month losing but I can sympathize with some necron players I know who were disappointed that after waiting 11 years for them to be released, they lost in their battle report.
