Can this scenario still work in 5th edition? I'm going to a tournament next week and I'm taking a Tau army list that is almost all kroot. I don't plan to win any rounds but if someone does hold everything in reserve, do they lose if they don't have deep strikers?

Thanks for any advice on this.

It can work, though it is a cheap way to not play a game.

Tanks can tank-charge, skimmers and jump infantry can go over... otherwise you're stuffed.

Yes, that is a winning move. They can't move on through your units. Skimmers or JI would be able to move over, tanks could tank shot, but anything else would be destroyed.

Thanks for the reply, I don't actually plan to use it, I'm actually more trying to go for best sportsman. I would take back the infiltrating and play out the game, I just wanted to know if that was still possible. I wasn't sure if people can tank shock from off the board or if skimmers can fly over and just come in. Like I said, I don't plan to win any games, its more for fun and seeing how far a kroot force can go in 5th edition.

The ironic part is that when the pic was taken, this wasn't actually a valid tactic, since at that point there was no rule that said that the unit unable to move onto the board was destroyed. He won the game because the judge on the spot decided to hand it to him.

Course, maybe the judge kept track of previous GW rulings that said the same thing that the current ruling does (old SW FAQ on OBEL). Irrelevant now since GW finally added that answer back into the FAQs, but there was precedence and that's how I've always ruled it, whether at one of our local tourneys or when I was working US Games DayRTTs/US GTs.

And if I remember correctly, that pic was a 5th ed game.
