Just made it for fun as Farsight is, in my opinion, an awesome character so I felt like seeing how a list with him (and max bodyguard for massive Crisis suit output) would look.

Probably not very competitive but it would be fun to play, especially against Orks. Just imagine the look on the Ork players face when Farsight and bodyguards assault his Warboss and what remains of his command squad after 16 plasma rifle shots had been pumped into them. Priceless.

Don't Farsight's units already come with bonding knives?

I'm not a fan of using one twin-linked weapon for Crisis Suits... Not pumping out alot of shots outside of 12" with the TL Plasma and the TL Missile Pods aren't great at killing infantry squads unless their Guard or Eldar. And with each Codex producing really fast army builds you just don't have the turns for a woefully small amount of shots.

I think the maximum squad size for Pathfinders is 8, but I don't have the Tau Codex on hand right now so I'm guessing.

Fun yes, survivable no.

Oops, Pathfinders points were right for a unit of 8, just copied their individual points value from Excel instead of their unit size.

Bonding Knives are just there to show they've got them. The points values don't include them, as per Farsight's rules.

I've found that I've done better with twin linked Missile Pods than using two weapon systems because of the much better accuracy you have. Targeting Arrays give you a 3+ to hit and with the re-rolls from twin linking you will usually hit with the majority of your shots. Also it allows you to maximise the range you can keep the enemy at, giving you a better chance of being able to use terrain to get cover saves from heavy weaponry.

As for infantry squads, Fire Warriors with markerlight support can deal with most infantry except Space Marines, which is exactly what Farsight and his Bodyguard are for.

Fast lists often rely on their transports and with Railguns you can be reasonably sure that some of those transports are not going to make it to your side of the table, leaving the soldiers left to slog it across whilst being constantly harassed by pinning fire from the pathfinders. Also, Missile Pods can usually hold up lightly armoured vehicles with crew stunned results fairly often, giving you more time to set up a mobile firing line with the Fire Warriors to pick off the units whose transports have been destroyed.
