Bought the Hordes MkII book recently and have decided to start a Skorne army. Looking for suggestions on my starting warlock (or two) and supporting cast, something along the lines of: beginner friendly that can be an introduction to learning the strengths and weakness.

I will be picking up the Forces book along with the new Domination book when it comes out, and would like to start putting together my shopping list into the holidays. Thanks

Well the general suggestion would be the battlebox. You get: quick start rules ( dont matter that much to you)
Morghoul: a fairly easy to use warlock
Titan Gladiator: A awesome heavy beast and a stable of the faction
2x Cyclops Savage: To be quite honest they are not really great and are hardly ever used, but with some bits you can convert one to a cyclops brute ( thats way more useful)

Useful beginner stuff:

Warlocks: eMakeda, Hexeris, Xerxis

Heavy Beasts: Bronzeback Titan, Titan Cannoneer, ( later on Molik Karn)
Ligh Beasts: Cyclops Brute, Basilisk Drake
Units: Paingiver Beast handlers ( the most important guys!), Nihilators or Swordsman with Unit attachment )
if you want to start with Xerxis: Cataphract Cetrati
Solos: Agonizer, Void Spirit

Useful Mercenaries and Minions that work for the Skorne: Saxon Orrick, Swamp Gobber bellows crew, Gatorman Posse

If you want to start with the battlebox, the recommondation would be to get a minimum unit of beast handlers and a agonizer. That will give you exactly 15 Points

The problem with pMorghoul is he needs enemy infantry to make good of his own attacks. I would highly recommend getting another caster right off the bat and possibly saving him for higher point games where infantry start showing up.

Well Morgs melee attacks are nice, but in no way needed. Yes he can shred whole units by himself in some circumstances, but thats not the point or reason why people are using him. The fact that he can buff beasts the the point of insanity is the main reason and due to this he is great at any point level.

I dont think Morghouls is a bad starting lock and i had some success using him, but he is pretty boring imo.

Look at the warlock descriptions at Battle College. If pMorghoul looks like something you might like to play get the battle box, if not skip it. Basically you'll want Titan Gladiator and Bronzeback titan for your basic beast duo. Then you want Paingiver Beasthandlers to provide fury management. These three choises will be in most of your lists.

Then you need of course your warlock, others have give good suggestions on that and look at battle college for additional info.

Finally you might want to purchase a solid infantry unit and either nihilators or pretorian swordsmen fill this slot. Skorne also has some nice solos mainly agonizer and Aptimus Marketh come to mind, but these are more dependent on the warlock selections than the basic heavy beast and unit selections.
