I have just bought off ebay one of these buildings,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOTHIC-CITY-BUILDING-SET-2-28mm-Scale-BUILDINGS-TERRAIN-Pegasus-Hobbies-4925-/260878582327?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item3cbd934237#ht_1027wt_1114

Having never owned one of these kits i was wondering if anyone in here had and what was the quality of the kit in comparison to the cities of death kits by GW?

Cheers

Hah I am just finishing up some Pegasus terrain pieces. I will have some pics up on my blog later today.

They are very sturdy, perhaps more sturdy than the GW pieces, but slightly less detailed. I don't find the detail thing an issue at all though... I mean they are still quite detailed make no mistake, but the GW pieces for example have a zillion little things you can pick out and waste time on haha. These look great with just a simple airbrush, wash, drybrush etc...

I'll post pics later when I finish!

I've got some but I haven't quite put them all together yet.

This was posted on Miniature Wargame Conversions blog yesterday and the big piece in the back is assembled from Pegasus pieces.

I prefer the Pegasus stuff because of the lack of detail.

All of the kits are interchangeable so you can build as many, or as large, as you wish. Great stuff and I'm confidant you'll be very happy with your purchase.

Yes, less detailed, in the sense that it's not all covered in rivets and skulls, but still very crisply cast. Of course it's supposed to represent stone walls, so the lack of rivets does make sense

The only downside I've found is that due to the modularity of the connections, the final building will have a number of exposed oblong connector holes. Little plugs are supplied to fit these, but the plugged holes are still rather visible (and in my opinion look a bit odd) unless you spend some time filling and sanding. But not a problem if you just want to shove them together and play.

My god that fortress is ridiculous haha... anyway, I did finally get some Pegasus terrain pics up on my blog as promised: http://atticwars40k.blogspot.com/

But ...it's going to be a let down after that fortress.

I've seen quite a few of these in person. I prefer the lack of grimdark elements and the ability to build much larger builidings that are intact rather than ruined.

The one shortcoming is the lack of roofs and floors. If you want a roof you pretty much have to make them yourself. Not a dealbreaker necessarily, just something to be aware of.

Definitely less detailed (some might say busy) than GW kits, but I rather like the more robust look and feel of them. Fully modular, so you've got plenty of options if you keep them that way, but they will take filler on exposed edges to look their best, if making a permanent structure. I do wish they came with floor/roof sections, but it honestly isn't all that difficult to make your own (plus, I don't know how sturdy a design could have been while maintaining full modularity).

I think the kits are well worth while, especially considering the comparative costs.
