Having not ever played in a GW tourney i'm not even sure they still do this but I have read before about them doing it for WHFB.

But can anyone tell me the points system for 40k tourneys? More specifically the groups each army are in to 'balance' them?

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about what some WHFB events do to give each army a different number of points allowed for their army relative to how powerful that army book is generally considered to be?

That system is not used at all in many places even for WHFB, where the Daemons of Chaos army book made it a virtual necessity.

I've never heard of it being used at all in 40k events.

handicapping certain armies for 40k is silly. you can win with pretty much any army book. some books can build stronger lists but you can also build lists that lose almost every game. 40k works best in the 1500 to 2000 point level.

Ok thanks guys. Like I said, I wasn't sure if they did it but thought i'd ask as i'm planning a sort of League for my local gaming club and thought it would help out players with older/weaker codexes!

But thanks again for confirmation!

If you want to make things more interesting in a league. you can limit duplicates in the non troop section. that would stop lots of the duplicate lists
