It's derived from Tyran, the world they first attacked. Technically, if that is pronounced Tie-ran, then it would be Tie-ran-id. However, root words don't always dictate the pronounciation of derived words.

Canada and Canadian, for example.

Since Relic very heavily worked with GW on their games, I'd go with the pronounciation in DoW being accurate. Tier-a-nid.

Then again, in Space Marine the Meltagun is a Shotgun.


And GW approved that. However, that would be GW approving a mechanics difference due to needing that weapon type in the game and not wanting space marines with scout shotguns.

Pronunciation is not something that changed game to game. It's Teir-a-nid.

The problem, which this whole debate comes from, is Tyr can be pronounced several ways. I was making a sarcastic comment, since your initial pronunciation isn't shed any light at all.
