There are a few clubs around Auckland which play 40k, which is probably your best bet if you are looking for games. In my experience none of our stores are that popular for gamers, even ignoring the painful pricing related issues (which is enough to turn many vets away) none of the GW stores or independents in Auckland are particularly big, so finding tables is hard and you won't get anything bigger than a 1250pt game (which is frustrating when all our tournaments are at least 1750pts).

I think there is a North Shore based club, not sure where they meet, but I know a couple of the top players in NZ are based on the Shore. If you don't mind travelling, East Auckland Elites (my club) meet in Remuera every second Sunday, we mostly play 40k and Fantasy with some random Specialist Games thrown in. City Guard are the biggest club in Auckland and play all the GW systems + stuff like Flames of War and Warmachine, they meet in Freemans Bay every Sunday (or second Sunday, not 100% sure).

Thanks for the info Powerguy. I'm not actually bases on the shore, I have just been to the City Vagobonds and wasn't terrbly pleased so thought I'd give the shore one a go. I'll look into the club idea though, that sounds like a plan. I'm more looking to learn to play at the moment. I'm a painter but I want to get into gaming as well.
