They cracked the first booster in the WoTC office recently, here is the Folgore:
(next to it is a typical plane from the ground game)

A german plane is exclusive to the starter set.
Boosters will be three planes retailing at $24.99 each.

1/100 scale these are pretty meaty. Hex map design, articulation at the top not bottom.

Rules will include stats for the Axis and Allies ground game for each plane.

Rule book is 40 pages.

Cards for each plane included in the starter, not the boxes, to make trading (via snail mail) easier and so you can peruse what you want easily instead of online.

must admit that Italian aircraft looks nice.

Somewhere in south-central England.

Nice model, could be used for other WW2 flying games as well as Flames of War.

There is a small but growing range of 1/100 scale plastic kits from Revell and Airfix which could be used also.

While cheaper then the ready-made model you have to build and paint them and provide a suitable stand. Litko Aero probably make something for it.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

This looks like a keeper. The rules system will be interesting. Battlefront will have to step their game up.

PROSECUTOR: By now, there have been 34 casualties.

I know these are pre-painted plastics so a bit of realistic expectation is in order, but the only concern I have on this model is the cockpit. Rather splotchy blue with no variance. Am i being too picky?

Aside from this I'm extremely curious about the game and will wait for reports on the rules to see if I proceed with a purchase.
Wings of War (WWI for now) pretty much scratches our dogfight itch around the house with the family, and War at Sea satisfies our WW II dice rolling needs. If this can stand out from both of those, I may give it a go. I hope I do.

I so desperately wish they would have used a D20 system, however. that would have been awesome, I'm quite tired of the bucket of dice hits on a 4+ aspect of War at Sea.

A dark blue or black wash over the windows and a quick black drybrush to pick out the cockpit supports and it'd be awesome.

6 planes in the starter per attendees at the recent WoTC demo at an air museum last weekend.
