So the monolith is a heavy unit, and after DS it counts as moving, will it be possible to DS then shoot with the particle whip ?

I don't believe so as DS counts as moving Cruising speed.

Here is a wrench for you. It is unnable to move faster than combat speed, and when it shoots it always counts as being stationary.

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

Guess you cannot DS the monolith than as doing so would disallow the first part ...

That's why I was wondering, does DS overrule the Heavy USR or not.

It's going to have to wait for a FAQ imo, as It has the DS USR however is unable to use it.

The monolith HAS to arrive via deep strike. It's explicitly stated that it must either start on the board or arrive from DS. It cannot come in from board edge.

"If a Monolith is held in reserve, it must arrive by Deep Strike."

Also, the *Heavy wording is phrased as such:

"The vehicle cannot move faster than combat speed. When it shoots, it counts as having remained stationary."

Deep strike is worded as follows:

"Vehicles count as having moved at cruising speed."

There is NOTHING in the DS USR that states that a vehicle unable of moving cruising speed cannot deep strike. It merely states that it 'counts as' having moved that fast.

Thusly, it counts as moving cruising speed, but did not actually move more than 6" so it doesn't break the rules there, and then the monolith's heavy rule kicks in and says when it shoots it counts as being stationary.

The answer is yes, you may fire the weapons on a monolith the turn it Deep Strikes.

Counts as having moved cruising speed ok we all know what cruising speed is ...

May not move faster than Combat speed... So it cannot Deepstrike as that would make it have moved at "cruising speed"

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also it doesnt have to arrive by DS ... guess you just shouldnt reserve it ...

Counts as, by definition, is not the same as moving faster than combat speed. There's nothing to stop the deep strike.

The rule on the monlith is very specific, it simply never ever counts as moving anytime when it shoots, it is capable of DS'ing and to try to attempt to say it doesn't is abusing the RAW and being kind of a jerk attempting to break somethings abilities.

Just saying...I wouldnt play you if you told me i couldn't DS a monolith...

Victory is not the most important outcome. Enjoyment and excitement is the best outcome, victory is sweeter when it was fun.

Nobody seems to have had a problem with it before now...

I have to agree with insaniak... the rule is not much changed, even if the old power matrix was clearer... BTW I think The Lyth is allowed to fire the particle whip in the turn it arrives because:
A) It's written that it always count as stationary and specific trumps general IIRC (for RAW fans)
B) It seems reasonable and not unbalanced (for those not so interested in RAW)

Yes, it may fire when it turns up. Even though it counts as moving Cruising Speed when IT fires it counts as Stationary. Additionally "counts as" moving at cruising speed has no bearing whatsoever on Heavy
