Looking through GWs catalouge, I discovered the fact that the catachan models are butt-ugly. I planned to use them in my pirate force by mixing cat. and cadian biz, but right now im not really sure if they are not going to mess up my models. Then my brother gave me a tiny bit of hope to cling to by saying that they just look crappy because of their vintage paintjob.

To get to the point:

Are Catachans ugly or is it just the way they are presented? Do they have bad details and look clumsy or not? Can you make them look good?

I think the individual bits look better when mixed with Cadian parts.

They do look better when mixed. Once you use bitz between the two kits you get something thats neither catachan nor cadian but still awesome

I "think" the only issue is that the "belt" is on the leg part for the Catachan and the belt is on the torso part for Cadian. Some fun hacking is needed to get this mix to look right.

I would use the mix mainly on "special" troops to pick them out more.

Sounds like a good plan, good luck!
