I have noticed that KR Multicase and BF have different sized trays just to annoy us. Even more infuriating is that FELDHERR doesn't put up dimensions (At least I couldn't find them on the website) and that they never put internal dimensions of the case as well as external.

I have 3 KR's and although I like the case's, i like the Canvas/fabric bags because they come with useful "outboard" pockets for codexes, army books, rule books, dice and tape measures.

So does anyone have any experience with using alternative companies products, furthermore are any of them cross compatible with KR Tray's?

Honestly i bought some foam trays off a guy who was getting out of the hobby and a tool box. I had to cut the trays in half to turn them sideways to that they fit, but it worked great and I had tonnes of room to put my stuff.

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

I took a tape measure to a thrift store, and grabbed a bunch of old suitcases and totes and foot-lockers that had dimensions of the foam trays I have (Sabol).

Suprisingly simple to find several that fit for long term storage. Maybe you can do the same?

You might want to look at the newer range of KR Kaiser cases - they recently updated their Kaiser bags to canvas versions which have front and side pockets. They also sell a backpack which, while not 'cavassy', also has side and front pockets.

You can get Kaiser bags that hold one, two or four regular card Multicases. The backpacks can hold one or two Multicases.

I have my armies stored across about 11 card Multicases. Some armies fit in one, and some fit in two cases. I have the expandable one-or-two-case KR backpack, and just drop in the army I want to play when I go for a game.

EDIT - found a pic of the new Kaiser bags and backpacks

I use an old Toolbox I hollowed out.

I was going to buy from battlefoam, but I get butthurt when I call someone on the phone and they tell me to email them instead.

So I spent ten bucks to get a twin sized Eggshell foam mattress, cut it up, and lined the hollowed out toolbox with it.
