if i split of every member of a royal court at the start of the game how does it work for kill points

you would not get any extra kill points for them only the one for each unit that dies
you get one kill point when the whole royal court die (tough to do )

if you say had 5 lords and 5 cryptiks and you split off all lords and kept cryptiks together - would you get a kill point when you killed the unit of 5 cryptiks or would you have to wait until you killed each lord also

Because they're not independent characters, and they leave their unit to join another unit, the lords are part of whatever unit they join. Kill the 5 crypteks, and you would get 1 killpoint for killing the royal court.

Kill 10 necron warriors and their joined lord (from the court), and you get 1 killpoint.

The game only cares about Units.

At deployment you have a unit of 5 crypteks; that is a unit and once you destroy it you gain a KP, as you have killed a unit.

If you spread all 10 members out to units then there is no Royal court ad no KP can be gained from it, ever.
