As the title says my league is doing a 2v2 game ( 3 to be exact ) and i need a buddy to help me out.... anyone think of a good team mate that i could use?

Assuming the Salamander special rule works with allies, IG for some melta-vet funtimes.

I think it is only the SM army. Basing it off of what the Codex says.
Though there might be a FAQ for it.

I would say Orks. It is unlikely that they will be a gunline army, and will complement yours as you will most likely be getting close with those flamers and meltas.

I run 2-3 tac squads and as many drop poding sternguard and iron glads as i can

as for there lists all of them are willing to work with me and building a list to compliment mine

Dark Eldar. You have the shooting down, he can go for the assault.

Tau. You're up close and in their face and he'll be in the backfield plucking at enemies from far away.

I'll go for the space wolves for the same reason as the Tau comment above.

Your specialise in short range attack so a bunch of Longfangs with some razorbacks would be great to cover the long range shooting. Whilst giving a good target saturation and cohesion with your force.
