I'm toying with the idea of a heavily-converted Dark Eldar army, based around a Haemonculus coven. I am aiming for 1,500 points; I have not played the game in several years (mostly painting/modeling) but would like the army to be reasonably well-balanced, should I ever play or else look to sell it on after completion. My choice of units is based upon conversions I have come up with which fit into my theme. So far, the list is the following:

HQ:
Haemonculi: 3 Haemonculi, 3 Agonisers, 1 Casket of Flensing, 1 Crucible of Malediction, 1 Webway Portal

Elites:
Grotesques: 4 Grotesques, 1 liquefier gun, 1 upgraded to Aberration with Flesh Gauntlet
Mandrakes: 8 Mandrakes, 1 upgraded to Nightfiend

Troops:
Wracks: 9 Wracks, 1 Liquefier gun, 1 upgraded to Acothyst with Agoniser
Wracks: 9 Wracks, 1 Liquefier gun, 1 upgraded to Acothyst with Agoniser

Fast Attack:
Scourges: 6 Scourges, 2 Blasters, 1 upgraded to Solarite with Blast Pistol and Venom Blade
Beastmaster: 1 Beastmaster with Venom Blade, 5 Khymerae
Beastmaster: 1 Beastmaster with Venom Blade, 5 Khymerae

Heavy Support:
Talos: 1 Talos, twin liquefier gun, additional close combat weapon
Ravager: 1 Ravager, Retrofire jets, Night Shields, Flickerfield

Is this list ok, or does it have some obvious shortcomings? Is the lack of transports likely to cause difficulties? I don't know what the local scene is like.

The above comes to 1,441 points, so I have 59 points to play with (easily used on a handful more Wracks and Scourges, and an upgrade to a Haemonculus Ancient, if nothing else springs to mind).

You have way to little AT on ravager one unit of scourges

It looks like you want to build a WWP list in order to be competative you need at least 2 incase you dont go first
I dont have a book so i cant point crunch

Haemonculi liquifier WWP
4 wracks
Venom

Make two of these units these start on the field inch up 12 deploy 2 pop your portals with the 3 inches you get of the portal you can have be 29 inches up on the board the only time this sucks is spearhead but then you save one portal hide the second venom behind the portal move and pop that one next round

Grotesques ...are a waste to me honestly nothing a witch unit with a pain token cant do better.
Mandrakes.... just look cool than die

Troops

1 Haemonculi 10 witches haywire nades shardnet x2 1 upgrades with agonizer

1 Haemonculi 10 witches haywire nades shardnet x2 1 upgrades with agonizer

Fast Attack

2 Beastmasters 4 Khymera, 2 ravorwings
2 Beastmasters 4 Khymera, 2 ravorwings

Heavy Support

2X Talos with heat lance

I am not sure where this put you but you can add a chronos for pain tokens if you wish but i would take more witch units

Thanks for the suggestions. The Grotesque and Mandrake conversions I had in mind work with the theme of the army so I want to keep them in (same with the Ravager, which I want to build as the centrepiece). So, perhaps I should swap out the Talos' splinter cannon weapon for a heat lance, and see if I can fit a second in somewhere?

I'm just going to throw out some general competitive thoughts;

1. The two Beastmaster squads are...meh. Together they're 154 - for 2 more points you could get the agreed upon affordable competitive Beastmaster build of 3 Masters, 5 Khymarae, and 4 Flocks. Much more survivable and killy, much more likely to be attractive to competitive play and also to just be stronger for you when you're playing them.

2. I seriously question the need for and the point expenditure paid to purchase the Solarite. He is like an ashtray on a motorbike - fething useless. Even if for some reason you really, super, duper wanted him - I would still drop that random 6th Scourge.

3. Mandrakes are...they're...well...I just hope you have a really awesome conversion for them.

4. General Webway strategy should guide you towards two Haems with WWPs in a transport (Wracks w. Raiders are my personal suggestion)

5. Coming out of a WWP I'd advise heat lances for the Scourges.

Thanks also for the comments!

1. The figures I have in mind fit conveniently for 2 Beastmasters and 10 Khymerae total; I could add some more Beastmasters with Razorwings, although did not plan models for those, so will have to think about that.

2. Right, I may do so. To be honest the reason for 6 in the squad was I want to use the feathered-winged models and there are 3 in a box, but I could save a chunk of points by removing the Solarite.

3. In my mind, yes. We'll see how it holds up when I get the figures. Perhaps I will shrink the squad.

4. I considered Raiders for the Wracks, but don't want to use the stock Raider models, and didn't figure out a conversion yet. I will think on that. Removing the Solarite and shrinking the Mandrakes should cover two Raiders, with a bit more tweaking.

5. Noted, thanks!
