Subject: Considering Trying a New 'Caster (Cygnar)

[X-Posted at the PP Forums)
I've been having a lot of difficulty doing well in games - not "winning," which I still don't expect at this stage, but "feeling like I had a chance" - and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm playing with the wrong caster (especially after an opponent said "have you considered trying a different warcaster" when I asked him if he had any advice :-/). If I were to branch out to a second warcaster, which would you recommend?
Here is the information I have:
1) Models (since I'd like to avoid buying all new minis to synergize with an all-new caster)
I currently own epic Nemo, Squire, two Ironclads, Thunderhead, two Fireflies, a minimum squad of Stormguard, a Journeyman Warcaster, three Stormsmith Stormcallers, and a Stormsmith Storm Tower.
2) Preferences
I enjoy strategies that focus on mobility and speed (I play Blood Angels in 40k). I enjoy the shooting game, but don't want an army that's reliant on it (I used to play Tau in 40k).
And, as I wrote above, I'd really like to avoid buying all-new models.
I'm here to answer questions if you have any that could help you help me. And, of course, thanks for your time and advice.

My P&M blog - in which I chronicle the transformation of a battered windfall of models into an awesome addition to my Blood Angels force (hopefully) - can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/431820.page.

eNemo isn't particular friendly to those jumping into the game. Have you considered giving pStryker (battlebox caster) a whirl? Alternatively, with all those Storm-Nouns you can look into eHaley, I'm sure she'd love them dearly in her NQ Tier list.

Well Cygnar is Warmachine's premier shooting army.
If you're really wanting to run Storm... uh, stuff, then eNemo is probably your best bet. It's just that that list there doesn't have a lot for dealing with heavies. Ironclads are eh.
Should be good at killing infantry though. Thunderhead remains an incredibly reliable assassination tool. Lots of disruption for at least messing up heavies' focus use, if not doing a terrible amount of damage.
But yeah, probably a significant part of the problem is not having any buffer between your forces and his, other than range which isn't even that high on those models. You aren't Snipe-shooting from like 18" away or anything. RNG 10-12" isn't a lot when the opponent can just RUN to engage, and eNemo is very fragile. That might be why you got the suggestion to switch to another caster, since others have more forgiving playstyles/stats.
You probably just need a larger unit to stand in the way of your storm callers and such. I don't think they even need LOS to stormcall a target, but don't quote me on that. If I'm right then you can stormcall from behind your infantry, walls, forests, etc etc. Then use Fireflies to try and get off TRIANGULATE, even though in 2 years I've only seen that ability used once.
Usually things like Trenchers or whatever fill this role, but Cygnar has a lot of merc options. *Shrug* Look over the model gallery and see what else ( if anything ) appeals to you.

The problem I see is based on the models you have you have pretty much locked yourself into the lightning type force which the nemos do best with.
IMO you got two options for an alternate competitive list:
Slowly build up your collection of cygnar models to include a greater variety so you can make a competitive list with other casters.
Start a second army so you have two that you can play.
I don't think you are just going to be able to switch cygnar casters very easily with what you currently have. So you are probably going to need to work on getting more units eventually. Which means you also could easily start a second faction if that interested you as well.
If you want to stick with the Cygnar and try just switching casters you could consider Seige. He really likes a defender, Reinholdt and a squire. But otherwise the rest of the models are there just to run interference until he can shoot the bad guy in the head with some rockets. Your JR can provide the buffs that Seige does not have. Not sure if you have the plastic kits for your ironclads or not, but converting one into a defender is a good idea if you do. And a single caster and reinholdt is cheap $$$-wise. Seige may allow you to change your caster and hold the line until you fill out your available units.

This.
You have far to many jacks for most Cygnar casters to handle. I would say Siege isn't a bad option as you he can run a few different lists. I would defiantly max out the stormguard just so you have the option of a full unit.
