I was thinking about making some custom templates for wargaming. I kno some use plexiglass and cut them to their specific diameter in inches. Others, which I like, laminate two pieces together and make small 3in AoE(which is wat I wanna make) and they use a compass with a edge ti slice a perfect circle. Others use paper which is fine but I want to try making some that will last for many game.

Anyone have ideas or have done this before?

I think that, assuming you lack laser cutting or CNC equipment, there is no way that you will be able to make something that looks as good as the default 40K templates (which, I hasten to add, cost less then $5 shipped)

I would suggest this alternative template if green doesn't work for you.

I know there was a guy here to did do laser-cut acrylic stuff, but I think he may have gone out of business in a thread I saw. Not sure about that.

Good and cheap are often mutually exclusive.

Adequate and cheap are more common.

My infinity templates (2 5" round, 2 teardrop - small and large) copied onto acetate transparencies AND laminated).
Cost me around $10 for the set at a copy shop.
They will last a while - not as long as a lasercut acrylic one, but long enough.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

i got my hands on a piece of nice, thick, clear PVC, and cut it to size, i cut out 2 of each template size (including clover and flame), they are correct, they are very handy
(and you would NOT want to drop them on your models...or your toes!)

'bought me a deffblasta off rotskrag earlier, nice little killa, just ask rotskrag, hur, hur!

Are those multitemplates good? My FLGS carries the Galeforce 9 multitemplate, but I can see it getting pretty confusing at times.

No clue, don't actually have one - Just came up in a result when looking for alternative templates. I'm happy with the GW ones generally. I do really like the Gale Force 9 TAC ruler and it's equivalents, though.

Hey thanks guys! I was not looking to make them perfect like look exactly like a 40k or warmahordes template. just simple clear circle will do for smoke effects and temples for AoE I dont plan on using super machinery to do so lol
