Australia (insert either funny or interesting fact here)

I am considering starting a new Eldar jetbike army. Problem is that I have heard rumours of a new Eldar codex coming out in Feb 2011.
Should I buy 1500 points worth of eldar now or wait till the new codex comes out? I am worried my list would become really weak or even illegal.
My list for those of you who might be interested:
Spoiler:

I might be mistaken but the anti tanks are:

2 Autarch and 2 Prisms.

With those gone ( and so many armies spam transports )
I imagine your jet bikes will have hard time getting the inside contents.

Are they going to be gone (I doubt they will remove prisms)? I am not going to risk it anyway.
I might buy an Autarch but just to paint then.

Ah no i meant if i play your army, i will just make my first priority on blowing your 2 prisms up. Then i'll be safe to roam around
long and medium distance. I just have to be careful when your autarch gets near, then throw some cheap fodder to get you into combat
preventing the fusion blasters.

I really don't see the prism going away since they released the new one not to long ago, be like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Autarch's will only get better from my opinion, maybe autarch powers. As for jetbikes, they may get a new model but that won't make the ones now not work anymore. I hope not since I own over 50 of them.

Rumors rumors. As an Eldar player, I've heard them too.

Febuary you say? That would be awesome. I've also heard perhaps autumn/winter of next year.

Anyway, what I may suggest is perhaps start buying and building models. Things like Warlocks, Farseers, Guardians probably won't change sculpts too much.

The Fire Prism/Night Spinner, Falcon, Wave Serpents will probably be the same.

The jetbike models on the other hand are bound to get updates.

Dire Avengers, and most of the aspect warriors would probably remain similar.

What 'bout my star?~*

Waaa both people misunderstood what i said about fire prism, sigh >.<

Anyways, I think warlocks if you really want them with the jet bikes, you must give them Destructor and a Singing Spear.

Now suddenly the squad is a threat to both horde and tanks.

What would your reaction be to them becoming elites?

Flamer and Spear Means I am in range of assault. I don't want to do that. The idea is that I mainly use the shuricannon but if they get close enough I can shoot and then assault.

If thats the role of your jet bikes, then they are realllly reallllly expensive.

Dire Avengers will probably cater to your plan alot better.

eldar are strongly runored to be the first codex after 6th edition this summer.

last bead I had was tau, chaos (with 6th edition) then eldar. I also heard black templar might be dropped in there and the only thing they could bump is eldar.

No they dont but if you math hammer it, you are having 2 extra jet bike + warlock just to baby sit that 1 cannon.
If you turbo boost you cant shoot that cannon, and its only 24"
Which means you wont be able to claim the cover saves, even concealment wont save you.
T4 with 3+ AS you'll be wiped out.

If you like S-Cannon that much and the ability to get into combat, might as well get War Walker.
better yet scatter laser for extra shot ( since you target will most definitely be in cover anyways )

Shoot to your heart's content

I mean if you love Jet bikes for the looks or fluff reasons thats fine. But so far im just under the impression you want them for tactical reasons.

Also from the pattern of GW release and designs, i wouldnt be surprised if they come up with new jet bikes.
Like Black Guardian rider / Shinning Spear hybrid kit

I'm not so sure about Destructor, but a S9 shooting attack mounted on a jetbike for 3pts is a bargain. Don't forget it has a 12" range and jetbikes can move 6" in the assault phase after they fire, so you can keep out of range of melee with some careful hit+run. In fact I'd go so far as to recommend dropping an Autarch and all the Warlocks in the guardian jetbikes, and taking a jetbike seer council with singing spears and a farseer to buff your army. Warlocks with singing spears are more effective than Shining spears at anti-mech anyway.
Fortune, Doom and/or Guide from a Farseer will really help. Perhaps combine some guardian bikes into a larger squad to get more benefit from Guide on their cannons, or Fortune the 3+/4++ seer council to make it as annoying as possible for your opponent to take out.

The shuricannon on the fireprism won't get used too much thanks to the range of its main gun. If you do have points available then spirit stones or holo-fields would be more effective here.

----- HQ -------------------------------
1. Farseer (365pts)
- 1x Farseer
- 1x Eldar Jetbike, 1x Runes of Warding, 1x Spirit Stones, 1x Singing Spear, 1x Guide, 1x Fortune
- 4x Warlock
- 4x Eldar Jetbike, 4x Singing Spear

Feb. 2011? I think fall/winter 2012 is far more likely, especially with a Tau Codex coming out in the late 2011/early 2012.

My Armies:
5,500pts
2,700pts
2,000pts

Febuary 2012. 2011 was half a year ago. Over here it's summer. In America it is winter right?

I really like the Hq choice you offered. Should I get rid of my 3 fire prisms to fit them in? How should I fit them in?
If I do I will need to get rid of an Autarch.
Where should the points go?

In the codex it states you need 3 to make a cannon. Every third guardian may replace its shurkien catapults with a signle shuriken cannon.
Warlock is so that It doesn't run off the field. LD 8 Is not that good. Especially not stubborn.
Also, they won't turboboost much anyway.
