The Mawloc enters and destroys/wrecks a transport. Do the units inside disembark/get placed and get hit by TftD or does the wreck/explosion get moved off the TftD template and then the transported unit disembarks/gets placed.

Thast a good one...but i would still just blow up the transport as the unit is not on the table...

The unit wasnt there when TftD went off, so they dont get hit by it.

It didnt get hit by TftD so it doesn't have permission to move away from the template. It cant disembark or be placed because that spot is now occupied by a Mawloc so they are destroyed?
Obviously this shouldn't happen so:
a) They get out, get hit and move off the template
b) They get out, dont' get hit and move off the template
c) The vehicles moves off then explodes or whatever and they then react accordingly.

c) doesn't agree with the rules
a & b) is just the players facilitating so that something can actually happen because it is not covered by the rules.

They get out after the Mawlock has replaced the large blast marker.

The Mawlock rule says that "After all casualties have been determined, replace the large blast [marker] with the Mawlock"

The Mawlock only hits what the marker is touching when you determine its final position, the infantry are embarked at the time and are not under the marker.

so you:
1 place the large blast marker determine who is going to take a strength X APX hit.
2 Roll for wounds and armor penetration.
3 remove casualties.
4 move any surviving models the minimum distance to get out from under the large blast marker
5 Place Mawlock
6 place any models of any exploded vehicles where the vehicle used to be.
7 continue with the game.

I agree with DR except move step 6 between steps 3 and 4.

Actually you could combine steps 5 and 6 so that step should look like this:

5 Place Mawlock and place any models of any exploded vehicles where the vehicle used to be.
6 continue with the game.

So you're saying the cargo of a Rhino (for example) get moved out in step 3? I can dig that, just wanted to clarify your statement.

These are all nice suggestions. But none of it can be backed up by rules right?
Why should step 6 be there and not at step 4?
Unless I am misreading the text, it lacks clarification and is open to inturpretation.

Read terror from the deep, it says only those models that are under the template are hit.

The embarked models are not under the template so any way you look at it, they will not be hit.

They won't be hit, but if the template nukes the transport, they have to appear on the template. I guess theyd get pushed off before removing the template though.

Its possible R2, but ultimately does not really matter much.

How can it not matter? Template happens to end up directly on top of a full Rhino. Rhino is exploded, etc. the models that come out must be moved before the Mawloc is placed - otherwise they'd occupy the same space.

We are pretty much saying the same thing. the bottom line is that the unit inside the transport is not subject to the hits from the Mawlocks TFTD rule.

The Mawlock and the now disembarked models are placed and you move on with the game.

Once all casualties have been determined you replace the large blast [marker] with the Mawlock. This seems to happen at the same time as placing the now disembarked models.

In the end as long as both players are good with the placement of the models I do not think there will be a problem.
