Staff of Light - is it still a power weapon?

Scarabs - These have been changed to "beasts" so do they only move 6" with the 1d6" run (they have fleet so they can assault 12") - I assume they lost their turbo boost and now they can't just hop over cover ? :(

Praetorians - is there a point at all to selecting this unit? 6 str pistol, but 12" range makes them susceptible to plenty of guns to kill them (especially no invul save).

Skimmers - I'm new to skimmers since i'm used to rhinos and land raiders :p . The ghost arks - can you move 12" cruising speed and can the crew fire from the open topped, or is it just the 6" combat speed? Alternatively, doomsday ark, can it move 12" and fire the doomsday cannon's lower profile or just the defensive array guns?
Also what does 'broadsiding' mean? Does it mean the 2 arrays can simply fire at seperate units?

That being said - how do "Fast" Skimmers work in conjunction to moving & shooting? From what I understand Moving "Flat out" (up to 18") you can't fire anything (aside from defensive weapons if I'm not mistaken...), however the 12" cruising speed, you can fire 1 weapon along with defensive weapons... am I correct? Mind you , Doom Scythe & Night Scythe has "aerial assault" so it doesnt really matter

With the death ray from the doomscythe, if I draw a line through an Ork Boy squad of 30, and it goes through 10 of the units, does that give me 10x30 hits (300 hits?!) at str 10 , or just the 30 hits ?

Can Cryptek's start the game inside a Ghost Ark along with a squad of 8-9 warriors (so 1-2 Cryptek's)? This is assuming I have an Overlord to support the Royal Court of course

Thanks guys!

Staff of light is just a weapon with a shooting attack

Scarabs are now beasts and no longer move as jetbikes

look at these guys again, you're wrong about their gun

Skimmers; The doomsday arc is not a fast skimmer
The crew may not fire after moving further than combat speed, unless they disembark

Flat out is actually up to 24" as they are a fast skimmer
Check this out in the rule book, very basic

make a line through the unit, count the models directly in the lines path, the unit takes that many hits

As long as he would be part of that squad, not a seperate unit. Unsure if you can have more than 1 per squad.

@Staff of Light: if it doesn't state it's a "power weapon", then it's not a power weapon. Even if it does exactly the same thing. So for backlinked rules, I'm guessing it wouldn't apply.

@Scarabs: Same again. Turbo boost is only used by bikes, so if it doesn't specifically say they can use TB, they can't. Remember, the second it says they are "Beast", they use all beast rules unless otherwise counteracted.

@Preatorians: Not much of a Necron tactician myself, but you must realize there are a lot of units that are effectively pointless. Aun'va as the prime example.

Am I? Particle caster upgrade - str 6.

The crew may not fire after moving further than combat speed, unless they disembark

Can they disembark from after moving cruising speed and get their shots off?

Flat out is actually up to 24" as they are a fast skimmer

Page 70
"A fast vehicle going flat out moves more than 12" and up to 18".... a fast vehicle moving flat out on a road may move up to 24"

So unless you're playing on a parking lot of a map that's all a "road", wouldn't it just be 18"

The basic weapon they have is NOT a 12" range, you never specified the upgrade. The point of the caster is it is a pistol, and the Voidblade is a single handed CCW.

Edit: check the skimmer rules, p71

Triarch Praetorians : Rod of Covenant?

yes you may disembark after moving crusing speed

However it's a skimmer moving fast, and you're not looking in the skimmer part

^^ True, I could have been more clear, I meant the particle caster upgrade for praetorians (as that's the only way I see them somewhat useful). I'm not a fan of 6" range weapons, doesn't matter what their AP is

Pistol + CCW is the point.

Do the rules say it's a power weapon? Nope.

Can beasts turboboost? Nope.

Praetorians - is there a point at all to selecting this unit? 6 str pistol, but 12" range makes them susceptible to plenty of guns to kill them (especially no invul save).

Ehhh, they might have their uses, but seem subpar to me so far.

The ghost arks - can you move 12" cruising speed and can the crew fire from the open topped, or is it just the 6" combat speed?

Skimmers follow the same rules as any other vehicle but with the exceptions in the book. So no, if you move at cruising speed or faster, the passengers can't fire out of the vehicle.

Alternatively, doomsday ark, can it move 12" and fire the doomsday cannon's lower profile or just the defensive array guns?

Unless it's a fast vehicle, only defensive weapons.

Also what does 'broadsiding' mean? Does it mean the 2 arrays can simply fire at seperate units?

Broadside means the weapons are on the side of the vehicles. The rules in the codex are very clear on how targetting works.

Can't fire any weapons at all when moving flat-out. Otherwise you are correct.

With the death ray from the doomscythe, if I draw a line through an Ork Boy squad of 30, and it goes through 10 of the units, does that give me 10x30 hits (300 hits?!) at str 10 , or just the 30 hits ?

Just 10 hits. Be careful of your use of the words 'unit' and 'model'...they are very, very different terms in the context of the game.

Can Cryptek's start the game inside a Ghost Ark along with a squad of 8-9 warriors (so 1-2 Cryptek's)? This is assuming I have an Overlord to support the Royal Court of course

Yes as they effectively turn into 'sergeants' similar to wolf guard. As the way the rules are currently written the only way you can have 2 Crypteks join is if you take two Royal Courts.....though I'd expect this to be FAQ'd so that only one can every join.
