Wondering about this C'tan ability.

Power reads

After all forces have deployed and all scout moves have been made, roll a d3. You can immediately redeploy this many friendly units, subject to the normal deployment rules for the mission. This power can be used to move units into, or out of, reserve.

So is it therefore possible to use this power to then automatically deploy d3 units in a DoW set up ? Could one, for example, deploy 1-3 Doomsday arks ?

I'm inclined to read it as being the DoW restrictions on what can be deployed take "preference", so to speak, here, but I can see the argument that having set up a legal force initially ( assuming one set up anything at all of course) this would be allowed. Subject to deployment area restrictions of course.

Normal deployment rules say up to one HQ and two troop units...........so no, no you can't.

Part of the normal deployment rules for DoW are a limit on your units you can deploy, so no.

Hey Red

Have to agree with everyone else. IMO it would allow you to switch which two troops you deployed (e.g. on in reserve for the ones on the table) or HQ but you would still be limited to DOW deployment rules being 1 HQ 2 troops

Oh I agree as well.

It came up in discussion and was suggested, somewhat playfully, that as the scout move had already been made the deployment restrictions had already been fulfilled you would now be eligible to deploy units as, in DoW everything else is reserves.

Struck me that, even if it was legal it would only be so through a ..... generous.... reading of the power's affect.

Just wanted to gather more grist for this particular mill.
