Well, I have officially played at my first ever Warmahorde tournament over this weekend. I went to Warmachine Weekend with my Menoth army with only around 2 months of gameplay under my belt. I ended up playing in 2 events:

Last Chance Invitational Qualifier - 50pts

Tiers for Fears - 50pts

Here were my lists going into both events:

LC Invitational Qualifier -

List 1:

Harbinger of Menoth
Reckoner
2x Repenter
Heirophant

Avatar of Menoth
2x Paladin of the Wall
High Paladin Vilmon
10x Temple Flameguard
Temple Flameguard UA
Reclaimer
4x Choir
2x Vassal of Menoth
2x Vassal Mechanik
3x Wrack

List 2:

Grand Exemplar Kreoss - Tier 4
Fire of Salvation

High Exemplar Gravus
Visgoth and Honor Guard
5x Exemplar Cinerators
5x Exemplar Bastions
10x Exemplar Errants
Exemplar Errant UA
Exemplar Errant Seneschal
10x Knights Exemplar
Knights Exemplar Seneschal

Tiers for Fears -

List 1:

Grand Exemplar Kreoss - Tier 4
Fire of Salvation

High Exemplar Gravus
Visgoth and Honor Guard
5x Exemplar Cinerators
5x Exemplar Bastions
10x Exemplar Errants
Exemplar Errant UA
Exemplar Errant Seneschal
10x Knights Exemplar
Knights Exemplar Seneschal

I went 1-6 in the Last Chance Qualifier. After having played the game some, I noticed doing a ton of things wrong when playing my Harbinger list. I was very happy with my eKreoss list. The 1 won game was with eKreoss in the first round against a Retribution list. All of these games was played with Steamroller rules in accelerated time for this point value (10 minute turns).

In the Tiers for Fears, I went 2-4. Won against a mirror match-up with Vensers instead of Cinerators and against Pigs (Thornfall Alliance). I also punted the last game of the day because I am still used to Wh40k, where I can actually use my character models to fight with. The guy had like 3 of his models left. One was a large warjack which could trample to my warcaster, so I decided to charge it instead and armor pierce it to death. Well, little did I know, Vlad (forgot which one) could just place a buff on himself and ignore free strikes. He just charged eKreoss and killed him. I had half my army left and he had 1 calvary dude, the 1 warjack, and Vlad.

Either way, if anyone here was at the event, I was part of the "Angry Sooners" group which had the baby seals on the back of our shirts, with the saying "Club me gently". Also, our group apparently was unliked. If anyone recalled, one of ours, in the last game of the night at ~2:00am in the morning for Tiers for Fears, just gave focus to a warjack and charged his own warcaster and killed him, giving his opponent the game. After it happened, the guy just stood up and shouted "This is against the spirit of the game! He should be disqualified!". After the judge told him it was a valid tactic, he said, "Oklahoma sucks!". I think this was the most epic thing that happened at the event.

If anyone else went, share what happened. If not, hope it was a good read.

With only 2 months play experience you went into the Last Chancer? Ouch

WMW was my 1st Wargaming Con, had a blast. Played the 35 Steamroller and the 20 Hard Mangled Metal (my favorite of the weekend) Friday. Slept in for Saturday and filled in for drops in the 50 Casual and did the Highlander. Sadly didn't play any WM/H on Sunday but we were the people playing that dice building game at the circle table outside the main hall.

One of my group was the Press Ganger running the event that had to confront Nate (Oklahoma sucks guy), the PG that came with you, SS something I think, did a great job at calming Nate down and kept anything bad from having to happen. Nate was soo sorry the next morning, the dangers of a flask of Jim Beam. The funny thing for us that I think he shouted Oklahoma sucks just because Dan (the PG) was wearing a Red Shirt, we are in fact from Kansas City, MO.

A personal highpoint for me happened because the last match Benesh was in during the Friday 35 SR though he was 4-1 he was placed in the losers bracket against me. So I got to get my ass handed to me by Benesh, but I lasted 4 turns so I consider a tiny win of some kind.

It was like 2AM after the time change, so everyone felt like 3AM and it was the last round, finish the game, turn in your sheets, go to bed.

I didn't care. I mainly was playing to have the chance to win the armies for each event. The casual events only have one chance, the other events, you have a chance for each event you played in.

There was several groups at those tables so I am not sure. I did not play on Sunday either, we slept in and left early, getting back to OKC @ 4:30pm. I couldn't do any of the Hardcore events as I had no fully painted armies.

Hah, that was so epic when Nathan (the guy Nate was playing) killed himself and gave the game to him. Then he just exploded with the "Oklahoma sucks". I think our group is going to put that on shirts if we go against next year. We met him at the Cracker Barrel next to the Lamplighter that morning and he appologized to us. After he exploded, I was the person he walked over and shook hands with at the table in front of him. I was watching my brother play his game.

Nice. What list was he playing? I played against someone in the 2nd round of the 50pt LC Qualifier and lost in like 8 minutes. Accidently moved my Harbinger up a few inches too far and got all shot up.

I don't remember his exact list but it was something like this

Archdomina Makeda(*5pts)
* Bronzeback Titan (10pts)
* Titan Gladiator (8pts)
* Titan Sentry (9pts)

Nihilators (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)

I was playing Kara and tried to wipe out his remaining Nihilators during his feat turn but he made so many tough checks I wasn't able to and got Overrun

I'm the guy who had the "Oklahoma Sucks!" flip out. I'm glad there were no hard feelings, I felt so badly about my behavior the next day. I don't usually go so nuts, especially when my opponent is just tired. Afterward, when I calmed down, I couldn't fathom why I had gotten so angry so quickly. I understood why he did what he did, and I was tired, too. My friend described it as "whiskey rage."

The funny thing is, I don't think people noticed that my opponent (Nathan, I think you said)was part of the Angry Sooner crew, as people told me they thought I yelled Oklahoma sucks because I couldn't even remember what state I was in.

I tried to find Nathan the next day to apologize, but I guess you guys went home early.

I had a great time all weekend, all my opponents were cool, and my favorite game was a squeaker I played against Noble, whom I think was part of the Angry Sooner crew.

Next Warmachine weekend I'm thinking I'll refrain from chugging Wild Turkey 101.

Oklahoma rules!

I went, posted a Batrep in the Battle Reports section. Won the Hardcore event on Sunday with Ravyn and did pretty good through most of the events. All in all it was a blast and highly reccomended.

Hah. Ya, we all decided to leave early to have a few off before heading back to work (one had to drive back to Texas still).

I wouldn't worry about it too much. We all got a good laugh out of it, as I am sure others at the event did!

This is Feeple, the big fat guy who was drinking a lot on Friday night!

I am so glad to hear that things got worked out about that issue, it was really the only blip of concern all weekend. This really speaks as to why WMW is the best event run all year for PP games. I find it fascinating that every year I come in, feeling like I'm going through the motions, and I leave more excited for this game every time. Small wonder that we hold our Journeyman League right after, it put me in the perfect mood to nab of the armies I bought but hadn't gotten to yet, and start painting/playing.

I feel bad that we were all in the same room but I can't attach faces to most of the names other than Nate
