I imagine that many of us will be looking at these dual vehicle kits and wondering whether or not we can magnetize them to switch between the two. Has anyone here actually tried to do this? There are two different deck plates, one for the TL Tesla guns and one for the Overlord and his console. I was wondering if either one of the could be converted to work for both.

I believe you can snap fit it, I haven't built mine yet but from a quick look over the sprues and the instructions it seems possible. The underslung gun may be tough though.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

The tesla destructor just sits on top. It's held in place fairly well by the detailing on the deck, so doesn't really need any extra help.

The overlords console is held on by two pairs of tiny pins. They seem too small to really hold it in place, so it would be a good idea here to either use magnets, or replace the tiny plastic pins with larger metal ones.

Unless you glue the overlord to his console, there is nothing to hold him on. You will need to magnetise or pin him to the deck. Although I suppose you could just attach him to his base and sit the base on top of the deck.

The underslung guns don't need magnetising if you attach them properly. There is a vertical pin that sticks up from the gun into a hole above it, and a horizontal pin that plugs into the back of the gun. If you cut off one of the pins then you can just plug the gun in.

just one question regarding the guns beneath the barge, do they really need to be able to come off? In all pictures I've found of both the barges both of them have the tesla guns underneath.

They don't need to come off. It's just that you can choose to have either a gauss cannon or a tesla cannon under there, and if you glue one of them on then you're stuck with it.

It's also useful to be able to remove it when the vehicle suffers a weapon destroyed result.

The console pins are very tiny so magnets would be the way to go if you want to do it properly. As i usually just play with friends, if i play it as a command barge i will just make sure the lord stays on board with a little lump of bluetac under his base to stop him sliding off. Primitive but effective.

I went for the Tesla gun underneath and glued it. I cnt see it making a huge difference, but i haven't played game with it yet.

one thing i would suggest though....painting before assembly. There are a LOT of details in hard to reach places and i think i made a mistake in fully assembling mine without painting it first.
