I know the effects to the models are the same but I was curious about the summoning rules. The summoning rules require an Icon but is silent as to whether a Mark has the same effect. Units like Bezerkers, Noise Marines, Plague Bearers and Thousand Sons don't have an option to buy an Icon but it seems strange that you can't use them for summoning purposes. If someone could point me to a rule/FAQ/whatever that says one way or the other I would appreciate it.

Marks on characters are NOT the same as icons; you need a personal icon to achieve that effect, which cult troops CAN take.
