Ive been tinkering around with DE lists and loadouts lately, and have started pondering the possible usefulness of running shredder trueborn. Mainly this would be a cheap replacement for the standard blasterborn squads, for fourty points less (for four), you get four s6 assault blasts. While i know all the myriad reasons that overall the blasterborn are better, I was wondering what with the rise in scarab usage, and just against any horde armies, the possible usefulness of a shredderborn squad would be. So whats the consensus? Useless, useful but completely overshadowed by blasters, or useful? I think regardless im going to model a squad (just from left over shredders) and maybe take it when I know im going against crons, but anyone else think it may be a decent unit in a TAC list?

Eh, if you want blasty death a razorwing is better (large blast, longer range). Shredders are no longer on the unit that would want them the most, wyches.

Did anyone take Shredders on Wyches back in the day? I know I didn't.

I personally think Shredders fail across the board, and have yet to see if the Necrons are going to redefine things enough that it should obligate creating a unit just to oppose them that will be otherwise useless versus most other armies.

My gut says no.
