Hey all. Trying desperately to come up with a list that'll be somewhat competitive for a friendly tourney coming up amongst friends. I have till Sunday to decide. From what I'm gathering for what I'm facing it looks like some IG, a Chaos, couple Eldar, couple Orks, and Grey Knights. I'm stuck between either going Deathwing or Vanilla Space Marines. Here's the lists I'm stuck with.

Belial /w Thunder hammer/Storm Shield 130

Terminator Squad 235
-3 Thunder Hammers (Only have three models or I'd go full squad)
-Cyclone Missile Launcher

So what do you all think? Which will work best?

I like the first one... With 15 termies at 1000 points your oppnents may have trouble bringing stuff to counter unless they knew they'd be fighting termies all day.

However it is a bit gimmicky and a good player would make short work of them.

The second one seems a bit more logical.

Two things i would do (myself, and i am in no way a pro) is drop the scouts. Drop the turret laz on the pred and get another pred with laz sponsons. That or combat squad tacs and load them into razorbacks instead (having heavy weapons park on objectives on your side)

Thing is with all your stuff in transports units like dire avengers will ONLY be able to target scouts and they may dissapear quickly.

Of course if this is all you have with no chance of buying or borrowing i'd go for the first one if just for the lols of feilding only termies

Of course if you choose vanilla play down the sternguard.

Boasting how they can destroy wraithlords with ease insures a popped transport and bladestorm induced death...

Thanks for the info mate! I only have one predator so I can drop down to get another. The other possible change I was thinking was switching the pred out for a Venerable Dread with a Lascannon. Ends up being the same points. I figure I'll stick the Scouts in cover and use them to pop wraithlords with sniper rounds or something of the sort. The poison of the Heavy Bolter helps also. However, like you said, all Terminators are fun and the Cyclone Missile Launchers are awesome.

Anyone else? Even suggestions on modding any of the lists will also help.

Thats a point. Never had much luck with eldar rangers (who are generally i think better) so have never thought to use scouts. In the end with wraithlords i chuck cheap troops at them in assault as they just cant kill enough each turn.

That worked against my fiancée untill i foolishly bought her another wraithlord for her birthday.

It is a toss up. But i would swing to the dread if only for more target saturation for opponents anti tank...

I think the deathwing list is more interesting.
I think you could fine tune the lists however both are good. I really think other codices can build great balanced lists at this cost but you should put up a good fight.
