I was playing against my tau friend yesterday and he had disruption pods on all his vehicles. I was wondering if Imotekhs lord of the storm ability was affected by them? I personally dont think it counts as a shooting attack since its not listed as a weapon but he said that since the model gives the special rule the attacks count as coming from the model in terms of distance. Also I would love a rules page if someone could give me one that would be greatly appreciated.

There is no range on the storm. It's just a power. No line of site is needed. They just have to be unengaged.

Seems more similar to Njal's power that causes strikes on a Vehicles side, which doesn't allow cover saves either IIRC

There is nothing disallowing cover saves *in general*, however Disruption Pods CANNOT work as you have no "firing" model.
