Hi all,
I'm currently in the process of writing a lengthy novel (and enjoy writing short stories from time to time), but I've had a problem that I realized when I was writing a story for a contest. As much as I think I'm able to spot mistakes, I noticed a number of glaring errors that I wouldn't have noticed without a second person reading my material. I come to you fellow Dakkanauts in hopes of finding someone who might be willing to read the insane gibberings of my mind as I write this thing.
I'm not concerned so much with spelling (besides the fact that Word does that for me, I generally look up words I don't know before trying to spell them), but my grammar tends to be wonky at times, and I've had a number of times when something made sense to me only because I know the entire story, rather than just what my reader knows.
You can check out the story's beginnings here:

So, is anyone able/willing to read the stuff that comes out of my mind? Even if it's just the occasionally look over a chapter to see if what's there makes zero sense, I'd be happy. Thanks for any responses.
