Hey I'm new to painting. I have built plenty of models, but I want to bring my models to life. I have practiced on my fire warriors but I would love to take it another step with a favorite chapter of mine. I was thinking a pattern like the Lamentors which is weird since it is a checker pattern with a heart in the center. I am curious how I could do this on models and vehicles. I realize it will not be a quick or easy process but I am willing to learn. This would also be great practice for my future Iron Warriors . Thanks for any and all suggestions.

You have to practice freehand skills. It's just another canvas to paint on really. If you wanted to do this, you could get a small straight edge and a pencil, and draft up the checkerboard with the pencil. Then you could draw the heart in pencil, and paint that. That's all there really is to freehanding aside from practice.

I'd also suggest that Iron Warriors will be both simpler and easier to paint than Lamenters, from the patterning to the armour colours.
