Alright, this will be brief because my Skyrim files are decrypting on steam

Just wanted to say I had my first fight with the new Necrons tonight vs. Eldar. To be fair as a preface statement, the guy did make 1-2 slight alterations to what he might take since he knew not only did I know next to jack about what I should take yet, but it has been a year and a half years since I have played 40k.

The ho-hum underpowered new necrons might as well have been a dustbuster sucking up Eldar models. He needed a broom and dustpan to clean up his casualties after 3 turns. I brought a trial list of:

9 Necrons
1 Overlord
*some upgrades detailed later
in a Ghost Arc

10 Immortals
Lord

6 Wraiths

5 Scarabs

1000 pts was the total.

At the end of the match I had finally lost my Wraith wing, that had gotten some decent kills, but been far more successful at soaking tons of wounds. I lost one necron that succeeded a RP, and the rest of everything rolled quickly into combat and tore him to shreds. I was worried about the Immortals Tesla cutting down shots, but even with my average rolls of 2 6 six's per each time I was right at our just about average hits. So it didn't hurt, and it had the potential to be devastating.

The new Scarabs are also disgustingly awesome. His only error for the match was purposefully parking his Wave Serpent? between the scarabs and his other forces to shield them. They made it a snack the next turn. I don't know what all of the Eldar units are called, but I know I ate a tank, and the Avatar got destroyed by warriors and the beefed up overlord. The wraiths went quickly to his ranger things in the woods and decimated them, and then my forces surrounded the remaining forces and it looked like a firing squad.

As I said, gotta jet to play Skyrim, but those "meh" Necrons are pretty frickin awesome!

The next one of you that posts about Wraiths being I2 and ignores the whip coils mentioned 2000 times a week, and I am going to devote the rest of my life to becoming an ancient space god to trick and enslave a race, and turn them into soulless T-100s to rid the entire universe of life. At that point it will have been worth it.

People are still figuring out to deal with Necrons, and Necrons are figuring out how to deal with everyone.

We won't know where they stand, until a few months for now. I think they stand firmly in DE/BA land.

Seems like a good 1k necron list... what was in the eldar list? A 1k eldar list could be good or could be crap. For example, you had only 1 cron vehicle, but it was a open topped skimmer with a melee char in it. You had beasts and jump troops. So all in all lots of fast melee, and no ranged shooting. In an objective game, mechdar could go second, hide all game, then boost onto objectives and win. With only 2 troops, you would be hard pressed to stop him, considering most of your damage is done in melee.

I believe that necrons are the second worst book powerwise of all the 5th edition books, with the worst book being tyranids. So far, only 9 spyders with 10-20 scarabs and 6-12 wraiths seems competitive to me. Time will tell.

One batrep does not a paradigm make.

Im expecting a tedious flood of these types of threads.

In short this:

Gratz on the win though

By 1-irt: Still as long as Hissy keeps showing up this is one of the most entertaining threads ever.
