Hee Hee he thinks GW cares about Xenos being underpowered.

The next one of you that posts about Wraiths being I2 and ignores the whip coils mentioned 2000 times a week, and I am going to devote the rest of my life to becoming an ancient space god to trick and enslave a race, and turn them into soulless T-100s to rid the entire universe of life. At that point it will have been worth it.

I’m a bit suspicious about preferred enemy being applied to shooting attacks. Given how accessible it is in 5th, it would have too much room for abuse without extensive errata updates to all the factions. Even still, I don’t really see the need why preferred enemy needs to be applied to shooting attacks as it is powerful enough already.

Then you, cany man, don't play Necrons. Destroyers have it, and aren't at all for melee...

Necron Destroyers have Preferred Enemy (Everything!) for gaks and giggles, mainly to underline how completely far out nuts these guys are. The rule isn't there to serve any useful game-play purpose and likely doesn't foreshadow any 6th Edition change.

I have to imagine Ethereals would become a bit more usable if this were true. Imagine an entire Tau army getting twin-linked weapons

Honestly, I kinda doubt that it's true. Mainly considering the fact that Destroyers have preferred enemy (Everything!) with the exclamation point, I'm under the impression that it's more for the lulz than anything else.

That is pretty much the dumbest explanation I have heard. I don't mean that as an insult to you, but to say that they have that trait, and have it explained in the codex just so it can be a worthless joke/fluff jerk around is a rather thin ice argument.

Think about what preferred enemy on ranged attacks would mean for Tyranids.

A Hive Tyrant with Old Adversary giving it to everything within 6". Swarmlord giving it to a unit within 18". Hive Guard with twin linked Impaler Cannons? Devilgaunts with twin linked devourers? Zoanthropes with twin linked Warp Lances?

Yeah, I wouldn't mind that. I wouldn't mind at all.

Templars take the price though. TLCML terminators with tank hunters and TLLC lasplas squads?

Yeah... I doubt the preferred enemy thing quite a bit. I do feel that you will be able to shoot at some capacity in CC, at least with assault/pistol/rapidfire weapons. Here we will see destroyers with preferred enemy and their decent shooting weapons in cc being useful.
