Yes pretty much as the title states. What do you think is better to mech or use foot. Even using scarbs with Tomb blades, regardless what I am asking is what build is more competitive. I know both types have there advantages but which build works best with the codex.

I think that Necrons will work best in balance. You need to have mech for mobility, but our mech is so expensive. We aren't what you would call a 'Long Range' army, but our weapons are great at the middle range.
It'll need to be balanced.

A lot of our Heavier stuff is Mech, so you want to at least provide some Target Saturation on the Board. If this means a few Night Scythes, or Ghost Arks, or Triarch Stalkers, or CCBs, whatver it may be, I'd say you need some unless you are running a total Footslog list.

Well, in the current incarnation of the game, I'd go fully mech unless you want to run a fully foot slogging army. For a mech army, I'd suggest a mix of vehicles. My favorites are Night Scythe and Doom Scythe as they are super fast. Not sure if the Arks are really worth it. A penetrating hit and being open topped could mean that the tank is gone.

Thanks guys. Also do you guys know what the "competitive list" the internet has deemed is?

The thing about the new necron book is that there's no real need to go all or nothing when it comes to mechanization. You don't have to rely on target saturation for survival when all of the vehicles you take are AV13 or higher.

Night Scythes and Doom Scythes are both AV11 Vehicles.

I guess he meant all those shiny new vehicles with quantum shielding. Scythes are a different story. We all know that Rhinos are rather resilient these days. This could mean that Scythes are, too, unless they move too fast so that they get destroyed with an immobilzation result.

I'm sorry but after a pretty good look at the dex I think that the best possible list is all foot-slogging.

Good trades: 8!!

I run a foot list with deepstriking monoliths to teleport around the board - teleport out of one, shoot a bunch, once the enemy gets in charge range roughly teleport to the other and visa versa.

Use a C'tan with Lord of Fire to keep meltaguns away - he can come through the Gateway as well.

I think that the Night Scythe is a truly powerful transport on its own. It's basically a Doom Scythe without the Death Ray gun. If you are running Namesor and Oberyon, I'd throw as much as I could inside each, and have a Monolith for bringing in spares (or troops from a destroyed transport).

How nice would it be when your friends HQ for his drop pod list immediately gets confronted with 90% of your army!

on the forum. Obviously

I find the Ghost Ark to be surprising effective.

Granted, it is pricey for a transport, but that is because of its repair abilities. Without them, it would be around the same as a vanilla command barge (speed being traded for extra firepower and extra capacity, of course).

All it has to do is revive 2-3 warriors and kill some guys/stunlock a vehicle and it's worth it.
