After making myself some tea, I kept the tea bag and decided to open it up, the left over tea looks really good for basing or terrain. Has anyone tried this before? Post some picture if you actually used it

Yes, you can use for basing but it'll ultimately rot, esp. if it is used tea leaves.

How about unused? I thought PVC glue would slow down the decomposition process...

Sealed on with PVA, tea is fine as basing, but make sure it's thoroughly dried vefore you use it.

You can always open up the bags and put sand in them or something...

Oregano (seal with watered down white glue or paint on clear varnish) will work similar to Tea Leaves.

You can also use the stain from a wet tea bag as weathering on metals and terrain/basing.

I've used it and it hasn't rotted at all. Mixed it with some sand and pva glue to create a forest floor look for some IG. I also sealed with some matte varnish. The different sized pieces mixed with sand really look realistic. You shouldn't use too much though in the mix otherwise it will be too soft to attach the models. I put too much in my first try and when the mix dried it was very soft and sponge like. I wouldn't use used leaves though, to soggy to give any real shape of foliage. Unless of course you used them and then dried them again fully.

I've used unused tea and was very pleased with the results.

<--- coffee grind useer.

Usually, two to three pots of coffee a week in this household, that means a steady supply of ballast. I now have to decently sized tins containing spent coffee grinds. I also buy the cheapest paint I can for basing to use as the second layer of glue to "seal in" the grinds...

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.

Tea leaves, coffee grounds, fennel tea, bits of sticks. I use them all. I mix paint into the PVA glue to colour it. No problems with rotting or mold.
