I got a box of Finecast Sword Brethren for my birthday. Now, three of the miniatures inside are perfect, and the other two are filled with bubbles. The original model for this one had a face only a mother can love, so I chopped it off and replaced it with a head from the Black Templars conversion pack. And I thought, hey, this can replace my old Vulkan model! So I chopped off the chainsword and added a power sword, scratchbuilt a shield with plasticard and adorned it with BT bits (and it hides the bubbles on the right arm VERY WELL) add a hand flamer and voila! A new HQ! It's also my first time to do OSL on a non-test model, and I'm generally pleased with the result. Also my first time to do a quartered marine.

I only have one suggestion. The magazine on the pistol flamer should be replaced by a fuel tank. Other than that it is fantastic.

Is GW customer service not addressing this bubble thing? Not to threadjack you or anything, because your model is gorgeous. The two-tone cape especially is eye catching, and the shield mirrors the effect gorgeously.

I think the Defects have been sorted, or my LGS has a bunch of very good batches. Except on the day they came out.

Great conversion and well painted. But I agree the Magazine is very wrong and needs to be changed. But great work!

Thanks for the suggestion! I would replace it once I find a fuel tank I haven't attached to something else, or at least something like it.

As for the failed Finecast... I really don't mind since a) it's a conversion opportunity and b) even if it was perfect I'm gonna convert it anyway. Now if it were something I wouldn't convert (say, an Emperor's Champion) or the parts that I want are deformed, I would return it pronto.

Just for the sake of comparison, here's my old Vulkan model:



I like this one's pose better, as if he's lowering his blade on an enemy's throat to force him to yield.But see: I didn't clean the mold lines, the paint is a bit unthinned and I feel like I could have done a better job. t least this new model of mine is an improvement (I hope).

Both Vulkans are very nice! The OSL is very well done.
