What are some of the best 40k books apart from the HH and Night Lords series, I've read both?

If you are looking for a slightly more comical take on the 40k universe, read the Ciaphas Cain series by Sandy Mitchell. It tells the tale of the wacky adventures of a Blackadder/Flashman-esq commissar and his loyal heroic minion. Great stories with lots of laughs and pretty good action scenes. Influenced how i view the 40k universe, a little less grim-dark and a little more tongue-in-cheek-grim-dark. http://www.blacklibrary.com/Warhammer-40000/Ciaphas-Cain The Dark Heresy series by the same author is also a good read. http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/Scourge-the-Heretic.html

It seems like I would like the CC novels, I could stand to see a little less grimdarkness in 40k. The other one that looked good was Gaunt's Ghosts, how are those? Automatically Appended Next Post: Mr Nobody wrote:Titanicus and Helsreich are both very good books.
What are those about, BT?

Just finished Helsreach, and while it was probably my least favorite book by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, it's still head and shoulders better than most Black Library stuff I've read. It was a little frustrating that it only centered on the Black Templars fighting on Armageddon, but I suppose Yarrick and the Steel Legion's stories are well known enough at this point. Great read.

How come noones mentioned the Eisenhorn trilogy?
Absolutely most favourite 40k series, ever.
It's about the Inquisitor Eisenhorn, blamming stuff for the Emperor. Gives great perspective on 40k life that isnt all big battles between space marines/IG vs. heretics/xenos.
