Subject: Resurrection Orb not affecting Ever-living models?

I was informed that Resurrection Orbs only benefit Reanimation Protocol rolls and that Ever-living rolls are unaffected by it. The argument was that since Ever-living is a completely separate rule from Reanimation Protocols only referencing the wording at key points to avoid word for word reprinting and that the wording for Resurrection Orbs only states Reanimation Protocols, then the Ever-living wielder could only ever benefit in some hypothetical case where it does not become an Ever-living counter, otherwise it means that if a unit flees, the Ever-living counters must also be removed with all Reanimation Protocol counters.
Now I've been a little unsure of some of the book's new rules such as how, if at all, Entropic Strike works on vehicle squadrons or if a unit can benefit from the Resurrection Orb of a counter (not just the bearer, but the other guys), and I just want to clear up what I can until the FAQ arrives. It seems to me that this one is just a reach, but I can understand where the person is coming from on this.

P⑨P QUIZ
A bus left the Scarlet Devil Mansion; three people boarded at the start.
At Hakugyokurou, one left and half a person boarded.
At Yakumo-san's house, two people left; so how many passengers in total?
The answer is zero people because there are no buses in Gensokyo! |

You will find this is actually moot since every model that has Ever Living also has Reanimation Protocol.
But beside that, the EL rule states the model rolls just as if rolling for RP. This would also permit the ResOrb to work.

That's what I said, but it was countered with the character doesn't get a Reanimation Protocol roll, he instead gets an Ever-living roll which is similar, but different and therefore the lack of the Resurrection Orb specifying Ever-living negates it. The bit about the Ever-living counter not being removed as shown as proof that they are different rules that do different things.
As I said, it seems like a reach, but I don't want to get blindsided by someone who's "always played it this way."

No. You roll for Ever-Living the exact same way you do for RP, its just that they resurrect differently.

Reanimation protocols are listed as special rules for characters.
Everliving just means they don't need another necron of the same type etc.

Find the dice roll required to pass E.L. within the E.L. rules. Oh look, it isnt defined there, its defined in the R.P. rules, which you are told to reference.
R.P essentially defines a variable, the RP roll. and set that to 5,6. E.L. cals the variable, and if you have modified the value of the variable you use the altered value.
In other words, yes, you get a 4+ roll when using ELwith a res orb.
