TableWar http://www.tablewar.com/magnets/ has new magnets. These are custom designed to fit better under bases at 2.2mm thick and I believe they are one of the better priced values on the net right now.

These things are great. I recently used them to magnetize the bases of roughly 250 infantry and I am very happy with the results.

Excellent! I may get some of these to magnetize new projects (old one are all done using sheet magnet, which works OK due to the large base sizes... but is terrible at holding small or heavy metal models down).
I have yet to get some tin and tin snips to put metal in the bottom of my display boards... anyone else doing this (i.e. just wanting to put metal in the bottom of the "shelf", and not use any of the other accessories) and if so, any pics/tips to share? I think I've been a little afraid to bite the bullet and just do it, here!

Just found out about this company on TTGN today, holy crap am I impressed! They've got some awesome diorama washers that are fairly cheap that I'm deffinately using the next time I need to make an army display base. These magnets are nice too, makes me wish I didn't have such a large stockpile of magnets, mine are just a bit too thin I have to use a small spacer under the bases. They cost me about as much as these to boot. Really nice looking stuff, even if the cases are a way too expensive. Very very nice cases, but too expensive.

Hmm... N40 are some pretty weak magnets. I pay more for mine but I refuse to use anything less than N52.

We are suing Dugg's magnets and they are plenty strong. They are the perfect size to fit uner a GW base, too.

Why are you suing them...?

@Breotan - I think Reecius was saying USING, just miss spelled it.
Are your magnets making contact with the surface material, Tin or what ever you are using? When ours are making the contact they are plenty strong. I've noticed with the extreme strengths normal superglues tend to break away over time due to the magnet being to strong. Have you noticed this?

How are they custom designed? I have some 1/8 and 1/4 magnets that I have bought from many vendors and they are the same size. What makes yours different from those?

Michael's (and presumably similar craft stores) sells 1'x2' rolls of adhesive-backed magnets (similar in strength to refrigerator magnet). Rare earth magnets grip it pretty well, and it's really easy to work with.

I had them made at a thickness of 2.2mm. Most that everyone buys are at 1.5 so you have to add card stock under the magnet to get it to be flush to your surface material, Tin in the case of our Unit-Traya.

I've stopped using superglue for magnets, precisely for this reason. I drop a small ball of an epoxy putty into the base, then press the base down onto the magnet (on a flat surface) - better bond, plus guarantees that the surface of the magnet is flush with the bottom of the base.

+1 to Janthkin's method. I use a fast setting two part epoxy gel. Plenty of grip and a little gap filling as well.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

@ BryanC - Really good. I just magnetized my Circle Starter box to the Custom Diorama Unit-Tray I made, using the TableWar washers, and they work great.
I put a 1/8 under Kaya and 1/4 under the 40mm and 50mm models.
I just turned the Unit-Tray upside down and they all held on, even the Warpwolf.

I could post a photo of them on it if you like?
