Seventeen soldiers have been killed in an explosion at a military base near Iran's capital Tehran, officials say.

Revolutionary Guards spokesman Ramezan Sharif did not say what had caused the "accident" in the village of Bidganeh, near the city of Karaj.

An exiled Iranian dissident group, the Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK, meanwhile claimed that the blast hit a missile base run by the Revolutionary guard rather than an ammunition depot.

US blogger Richard Silverstein said Saturday that Israel was the mastermind behind the blast the killed at least 17 people at an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps base near Tehran.

In his blog, Tikun Olam, Silverstein quotes an Israeli expert as saying that the Mossad was responsible for the explosion, in collaboration with the Iranian militant opposition group Mojahedin-e-Khalq.

Good, feth Obama and his Israeli policy and then demanding the right to decide weather or not to attack Iran. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it was MEK or Mossad. I also wouldn't be surprised if it was a gas leak, improperly grounded fuel truck, campfire in an ammo depot, etc. But most importantly feth Iran, I'm crossing my fingers someone ELSE gives them a whipping.
