Hi there, just thought I'd share this lovely model I picked up today. This is truly a fantastic set, the sculpting is just awesome and they look brilliant. I wasn't too keen on the new Necrons when they were released but they've grown on me and I can see the direction GW has gone with them (shifting from a dead, boring robot army to a more awakened and rising power - and that's reflected in the dynamic new troops). I left out his front decoration thing though. It hangs off his groin area and I just didn't like the look of it. I minimised the gold on my Praetorian/Lychguard (not sure which he is!) too - I know he's special, but I don't like my Necrons pimped out.

I still need to finish the base and his weapon, and I thought the kind of base emphasises the height of the Praetorian/Lychguard and adds to his already intimidating stance. I still haven't done his weapon because I haven't really worked out how I want to do it. I'd like to replicate them as seen on the box but I just can't match them. If anyone has any help or tutorials for replicating GW's effect on Praetorian weapons I'd really appreciate it cause that's my weak point right now.

His shiedld needs touched up in places, which I see now thanks to the photos. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how he's gone. I've gone for the bog-standard silver metallic look to them. And I'm sorry for no OSL - I just can't do it. I wanted to go for a dirty looking Necron scheme, and I think it's come out pretty well.

Appreciate any comments/constructive criticism and, specifically, help on doing his weapon! Anyways, here he is so far...

Looks good! I like that you didn't go all out with the gold, to me that's something reserved for lords and not so much for elites or troops (even lychguard, he is a lychguard by the way )
