I have ran into this concept on a few threads, and would like to work out the details as best I can, if only as a thought exercise.

K, so, this is mostly a way to deal with the long waits most armies deal with waiting for an update because of the enormous number of codex that have come about.
So, the distinctions would be:

Codex Adherent SM
All those Marines who secretly wish they were blue.

Non-Codex SM
Puppies
BT
DA (?)

Imperial Guard
Cadian
Krieg
Catachan (More fleshed out differences)

=][=
Grey Knights
SoB
Inquisitors
Mechanicus(? Possibly to much in here, but they could just boil down all the Grey Knight fluff into AWESOME!)

CSM (Daemons?)

Traitor Legions (Merc Forces?)

Xenos of Order
Eldar
Tau
Necron(?)

Xenos of Destruction
Tyranid
Ork
DE(?)

Still a rough draft of the idea, but if implemented correctly, their could be an edition, where all of the codices are up to date. All of them. (Granted each one would take more work to finish, so maybe not, but meh)

Also, from a purely greed based perspective, If I own the Xenos of Order Book as a Tau player, and I'm flipping through the Eldar section, I would be more likely to buy Eldar models having all the rules for them all ready.

SO, thoughts, idea, comments, criticisms?

GW aren't all for money.
I dislike the Idea if your going to only have one Particular army you'd be wasting money on all the other content.

This wouldn't get Implemented. Just get the BRB and read the summary in the back for each race.

Would be much easier for GW to release online or White Dwarf updates of armies stats and rules to keep up with changes, and keep the current release date for big codex's for fluff, painting tips, unit information, any kind of background, etc.

My Armies:
5,500pts
2,700pts
2,000pts

As GW is a publicly traded company, I believe they are in fact in it for the money. Wasting, or being introduced to the faction you didnt know you loved? haha.

I'm not saying it will get implemented, and in all likely hood it won't, I was just considering it as a solution to the number of Codexes that GW has created, and a possible way to reduce releases, without removing armies.

This seems reasonable. Although, I would begin to worry about the changes piling up creating a hodge podge of rules more difficult to understand than american Tax Code.
Why not use the internet for painting tips? And background while you're at it, then yuo can have the rules guys doing their rules thing, and the fluff guys continuing to produce fluff continually creating whta I think would be a more immersion .
