Hey guys and gals just wanted to know what you have to say about these two types of armies. What do you like about them what don't you like, pros and cons of each. Let me know your thoughts.

I like both of them.
They have traits that both appeal to me.
They both require clever maneuvering in order to play properly and are always interesting.

I dunno, it should be pretty obvious:

1) Elite gives you stronger troops but less redundancy
2) Horde gives you strength in numbers, but weak individually

I like and dislike both for different reasons.

Elite Armies
Pro: They're elite, lol. And I dont have to paint as many. Can also be more tactically engaging and fun.
Con: There is not so many of em, so I wince a bit when a model dies.

Horde Armies
Pro: Sometimes all you wanna do is cram as many bodies into your enemies throats, heedless of your personal casualties.
Con: It's a right bitch to paint so many orks.

Tough to say, I enjoy fully kitted genestealers more often than I enjoy the horde of hormagants/termagants... but every now and again I have to deploy 60 hormas and I love the look on my opponents face... I find orks can be a horde easier for cheaper and more effective than tyranids

Total models without Finecast issues out of those purchased: 0

There's nothing more amusing then telling a grinning Blood Angels player congratulations for assaulting a squad of Guardsmen so the four ten-man strong squads around them will have something to shoot at next turn because you just happened to 'forget' to combine squads.

Horde's are for amusement. Elite armies increase this amusement.

I like elites more. I love the feeling of winning in CC against 20 plus models. But when they get shot up it sucks.

Horde: Nothing says 'I will fong you! ' like 200 + orks on a 1500 pt table...

Elite: Can fong 200+ orks

Going horde with my orks is amazingly theraputic, as there is a noce feeling to watching someone who's been bragginf up their invincibly uber army's eyes bug out as you unload your case, unit by unit, by unit..

You can see them thinking 'did i just sign up for an Apocalyse game with my 1500 pts of BA?'

My Daemons are the opposite. Tiny army of tough, scary critters

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

I like the Idea of elites (Deathwing in particular), but have never had much luck with them. My play styles seems to lends itself to the stupid-level numbers that the guard can field (tank and infantry).

Elite Vs Horde?

I go with... Medium! I much rather a mixture of the two, best of both words!

Besides, I love the idea of my men forming a meatshield for the rather dickish heros in the middle.

I can throw away 100+ models (85% of my forces or so!) in a game, and still win the game.

Regularly.

It's particularly enjoyable when someone wins a combat and wipes out a brood, and smiles about their victory... then realizes that there's so many more where that came from. Especially when I intended for that brood to die/tie up the enemy unit. It's magical.

I've had 96 point Hormagaunt broods tie up 300-400 points in enemy units for several turns... there's nothing like a good, high quality meatshield that is still threatening enough to draw attention.

I like expendable, what can I say!

I prefer hordes, myself (I play Orks, after all ). From what I've found at my FLGS, most people just don't have what they need to take down the sheer numbers of a horde. One vivid memory of the last game I played was when a squad of Ork Boyz cut through three two-man squads of Deffkoptas, a squad of Grots and their Big Mek leader, and a 20-some mob of Boyz over the course of a game. And then they shot a Loota squad to death (well, killed two guys and made the squad run off the board...)

What I love is the armor save rolls. With an elite army, you kinda cringe a little every time that 1 or 2 pops up as Marines. With Orks on the other hand, it's always a little bit of a victory when you save one or two boyz out of a handful of saves.
