Hey guys, could you use the blacktemplars codex for the Alpha Legion? Just wondered as I like the Chaos spacemarine models but I don't really like their Codex.

Probably. But dont be surprised if a lot of people arent going to like you using the BT codex just because you dont like the CSM codex.

Plus, the logical leap of Alpha Legion-as-Black Templars is just too big to fathom

Black Templars seems to be totally the wrong direction for the Alpha Legion. The Alphas are about infiltration and stealth where the Templars are about head on assaults.

If you don't want to use the Chaos Codex then your closest option would be either Shrike or Khan from the Space Marine 'dex. But even then it's not really what the Alphas are about.

Then again it's up to you what you do.

Well i think lots of peeps are just pure WSIWYG nazi's ... Personally i have no problem with count-as armies, as they at least use the same weapons. At local club we have a guy who is using Iron Warriors count as SW's just because their 'dex is much better than IW's used to be.

Well as long it pleases you, do it however you would still need lot of BT-marine models to make AL work as BT , therefore consider of getting whole new BT army.

Ok, i think i worded that question wrong and asked the completely wrong queston, What other codex's could i use apart from the chaos space marine one?

For Alpha Legion? any other would be fine, vanilla would be best I think though.
