I love psybolt and psyflames.... but this is troublesome as those units that has beneficial upgrades sacrifices their A-T role....

e.g
I want 1 LR Crusader with Psybolt 1 LR Redeemer with Psyflame. 1 Nemisis DK... there goes my heavy support slot.
for 3 fast attacks.... stormraven with Heavy bolter + assault cannon + hurricane bolters + psybolt
elite: 3 ven dreds w/ assault cannon + storm bolter doomfist + psybolt

so far thats a high amount of anti transport and anti infantry fire power... but what about anti 14 AV?

Take a Conversion beamer and put it far back on the table. Pop tanks like water balloons at summer camp. Use two Vindicare Assassins with turbo-penetrator rounds and a Henchmen Warband with a bunch of Psykers. Past that shoot with what you can and let the Emperor sort em out

i thought we cant have more than 1 per type of assassin on field? but yes i do like Vindicare. Though him and the Techmarine both compete same slot with the Ven dreads >.<

Honestly if you want AT I wouldn't bother with the techmarine or dread. Giving a reliable AT weapon to the techmarine takes away his main role and the dread can be slow to get to your enemies tanks, even with Fortitude. I would take an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, I know , and give them a conversion beamer. Then take two Vindies, I can't find where it says the thing about no more then one per temple, and there turbo penetrators will smash most vehicles. Then take a henchmen squad with a boatload of Psykers, 10 I'd say, to get high strength and low AP even if a few die and maybe a warrior acolyte or two with meltabombs

Can't take more than one of the same type of assassin because they're are listed as 'Unique'.

I see, in that case One Assassin, a Techmarine with a conversion beamer, and the aforementioned henchmen squad should do alright. But if you really want your dreads, ravens, and aforementioned heavies, try a las heavy razorback list.

They're good if your raven doesn't get wrecked early, but with 3 I'd say you might lose 1 but the other two will still be some mean mofos your enemy has to deal with, and Fortitude makes that hard

When in doubt, fire more psycannons, backed by Psyflemen for range and things you can't rend, like Wave Serpents.

Psycannons. That's all you need. And riflemen dreads.

Exactly the same really. S7 rending, 24", heavy 4. The psycannon can be assault 2 though.

The thing is, a TL-assault cannon is already better then a TL-lascannon for anti-tank, and all your infantry can pack them and fire them on the move.

If you run the math on it, a psycannon > lascannon. Throw in some psyfle-dreads for longer range anti-tank and you are set.

Taking psybolt on all of that, and replacing the fist for an extra assault cannon would give you enough to reliably pop tanks.

So far it seems like its generally agreed psybolt assault cannon > psybolt auto cannon.

Then why do people like psyfle dred so much? for looks?

Range. Assault cannon = 24", auto-cannon is 48".

In an army over flowing with 24" range rending psycannons, do you really need more of it when you can instead provide the ONLY 24"+ ranged firepower available? Not to mention the firepower is twin-linked, and S8 instead of S7

The Assault cannon/auto-cannon + psy-ammo dread isn't too uncommon. It provides 4 S7 rending and 2 S8 TL shots.

I would imagine Psyfle for heavy choice
autoass for ven due to bs 5
