So I am finally branching out from vanilla marines to blood angels and since I'm getting two battleforces I was going to run a large unit of Death Company in a Land raider. I just had two questions about how best to field death company.

1: Since I'm pulling off the Jump packs so they can fit in the Landraider, I was wondering if I should give them Bolters or chainsword/bolt pistol. I would think C/BP would be better since I want the DC to get into combat there should be no reason to give them Bolters since they SHOULD be running to get close to the enemy anyway. Am I right?

2: I also was wondering about which Land raider to use: Crusader or Redeemer? I would think Crusader since I can then fit more DC in it, but I really like the Redeemer's flame weapon better. Thoughts?

You can transport Jump packs with Storm Raven? good to know, (I don't have the codex yet, is coming with the battleforces) thanks for the info.

I run mine in a storm raven with jump packs. The issue with dc is they are slow and need a transport. Bolt pistols are best because you will diuresis be trying to move. Take at least 1 thunder hammer in case of a dread. If you don't take one take a powerfist or you'll end up tarpitted.

Keep the number lower. They quickly increase in price. With 2 battle forces I would suggest a squad of 5 with jump packs our 8 with out. Add in a chaplain for craziness. Only use lemartes if you take jump packs.

As for land raiders in not sure it maters. Take your pick. I prefer the storm raven simply because it gets them there faster.

Reason I like Landraider (apart from the fact that I already have one and not a stormraven) is that is can get cover easier. I've seen plenty of Ravens get first turn killed because of a bunch of long range shots. However I have also seen them do wonders as well.

Take both bolters and bolt pistols.

Also obviously TH and PF = Bolter, PW = BP

I sometimes fly two SR's with my GK. If you get first turn fly them flat out - you'll get a 4+ cover save and get a lot closer to your target. If you don't get first turn reserve it - when it does come in, again, go flat out 24" for the cover save. Chances are your 'target' has moved closer to your board edge anyway. Plus, thanks to POTMS, you can fire a single weapon. I usually take the twin linked melta and twin linked plasma cannon. Doesn't increase the cost of the SR at all and if you keep moving at flat out speeds you get the cover save and still get to fire the melta.

I've had games where the SRs were the last vehicle standing in my army. All of the razors and dreads are gone but the SRs are still flying - maybe damaged a little but still flying.

In one of my SRs is a libby casting shrouding giving both SRs 3+ cover save (as long as they're within 6" of each other) - until the libby and his terminator crew disembark. A pair flying tanks with +3 cover, av12 that can fire twin linked multi-meltas any time it wants - crazy talk!

Techincally according to RAR skimmers must be taken off their bases at the end of the movement phase but people jsut ignore this rule. But like the other person said move flat out turn 1 drop you payload of troops and shoot turn two.

EDIT: Take a crusader as to use the flamestorms, which are epic against hordes and MEQ's, buts you in melta range and for the same risk you could have 12 TL rapid fire bolters (2 hurrican bolters) also unless versing hordes you normally only get to shoot one sponson as the other cant see and models.
