Since the rules for Necron scarabs are so good, and the number of scarab bases most players will want far exceeds those that can be created from buying warrior boxes (and a lot of Necron players don't even want to use warriors), how long before one of the many resin base companies releases some nice, 40mm bases covered in robotic beetles? And, if none of them are working on it yet, get to it! It would create a nice opportunity to have an actual 'swarm' on each base, rather than what I have heard some players discussing and simply gluing 1 or 2 scarabs per base rather than 4. I think simply looking at all the skull bases already out there, and replacing each skull with a metal beetle would look great on the gaming table.
The scarab markup on eBay is already quite silly, with them going for over $.75 per scarab: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARHAMMER-40K-BITS-NECRON-WARRIORS-12x-CANOPTEK-SCARABS-/360409533678?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53ea150cee

My group glue THREE scarabs to a base, not 4.
They did this from the start of the old codex. It made the little buggers go further.
As it is, it's not that hard to make up a master of a base of robotic beetles (I'm NOT talking about recasting) and making your own.
I'd put 5 on a base, myself, but nobody ever remembers the FIFTH beetle.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I long wondered why Forgeworld haven't done a scarab swarm like the tyranid ripper swarms.

Last I heard on the matter several years ago was because the Necron line was in development and they didn't want to make something that would not fit with a possible future Necron aesthetic. Now that the Necrons are out, well this is no longer a valid explanation.
FWIW I did mine like Augustus too. Though it did help to have a couple of GW staffer friends at the time who had to put together about 150 Necron warriors for Games Day.

Green stuffing beetles,is brilliant. Back in the day I used 3 scarabs per base cause thats how many wounds they have. But I put stuff on the base as well and had them crawling over crates, ect... I like wad of scarabs more though.
