Right, I posted a VC army list about 2 weeks ago...and didn't get a single reply, while others have had loads.
While not a major annoyance, it hinders me somewhat as i don't get to play very often and so other people C&C on here is very important to helping me write lists that i can use competitively and yet still have fun.
So i was wondering, how do you do it???
How do you guys get so many people to comment on your lists?
Is there some little something my posts are missing??
Sorry if this is either in the wrong place or a bad post or something, i will understand completely if it is locked

It's really just hit or miss. Often I overlook army lists as I tend to be rather critical and some take it as rudeness.
That being said, I'd be glad to look over your list and give my opinion on it. Link away.

I don't think there are that many WHFB players reviewing lists on the forums, most vets in my area have quit, and I don't know if new guys would have much of an opinion to post.
Sorry, I don't play WHFB.
Good luck.

I helped him out on it.
I think the problem is that there aren't many people who are versed enough to comment on many different armies. There are a few that I have no experience with myself, so I avoid those topics.
I also tend to stay away from themed lists as they are often subpar and my min/max mind just can't fathom playing a subpar list.

Aerethan has it nailed some list are so bad that there is no way to really tweak them into something useful without sounding like a douche and getting a million folk jumping down your throat about how you have just ignored there starting point and gone in a diffrent direction.
Maybe mentioning if you actaully have purchased the models yet or if you have a budget for more stuff or are you asking for a list tune (diffrent magic item loadouts etc)
Also the folk that post a god awful list and explain that its just a fluffy list gak me to tears why post it then?

Another reason might be the points you listed.
Me for example have no experience playing with 1k games

Moat people play and crunch tourny lists. When you get to those points you'll get more responses as the majority of people have given lots of consideration to those point amounts.

Also, formatting. I haven't checked out any of your posts, but I know that if a list is poorly formatted and makes my eyes bleed, I won't even bother.
Army Builder lists look terrible; I don't need to know every standard bit of wargear and special rule with a unit. Make sure there are spaces and a logical order.

The best format is a hand written list instead of trying to use any of the army builder styles. Just use AB as a guideline.

ehh... I'd rather it be typed up.... I'd rather not have to decipher bad handwriting.

typed is what I meant, meaning not copy/pasted from one of AB's formats.

^This.
With the focus at school on non-handwriten material, the kids in my club have absolutely sh*tehouse handwriting.
It usually looks like a drunken chicken has wandered through a puddle of ink before walking over the page.
IF your handwriting is neat and legible, then a hand written list is fine. Otherwise, if I can't tell the difference between "Chapter Master with obliteration cannon" (example only. Wargear may or may not exist) and "chuzzlewuzzle when oblique caramel", there's going to be an issue.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

no one takes an oblique caramel on a chuzzlewuzzle these days, learn to min/max. Jeez

I'll agree it has to do with the types users on and the list itself. Someone posting a cut n paste melta vet guard list might not get that many more replies compared to someone posting a WAB El Cid army. While Dakka does have its own WF section, it is a lot slower than the 40k one and the lists can be very quiet. Most people I know usually play larger, 2k or so lists too

Yeah. Write a 2500 list and you're sure to get at least a few replies.
I only submit 2500 point lists these days as I have a solid grasp on how to make a competitive 1k list easily for most armies. At 2500 there is a lot more room for error and tweaks to fine tune a list.
