Anyone remember the old 'gold box' D&D games from SSI? Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds etc?

Well Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures FRUA was the design your own version. Hopelessly out of date even in 1993, clumsy interface, AND 1st edition AD&D rules!

But I love it so...

Are there any good design your own type games out there with modern tech? I kind of like building and adventure then running myself through it.

Sadly I don't think so, I've hunted long and hard for a game from the last decade like that to no avail.

Pretty sure those games were 2nd edition D&D rules, just like baulders gate

I remember having so much with that game, even for all its flaws.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I have a campaign I started designing around 1995 and still tinker with.

I've managed to use up every dungeon slot the game allows and every monster as well. Ideally it takes a party from level 1 to 20 and in the process they get to fight everything from A to Z.

My favorite bit is what seems like the climatic battle where you face the demon lord and kill him. Only to get sucked into the Abyss after him and have to track him down and kill him again in the pits of hell.
